The Social Responsibility Forum (SRF) of SVKM’s NMIMS School of Business Management, Mumbai, in partnership with Ketto, Mumbai First and Making a Difference adopts the Vile Parle Railway station as part of National Cleanliness and Beautification Drive for Railway Stations.

The Social Responsibility Forum (SRF) is the student body of NMIMS that strives to promote social sensitivity amongst MBA students by executing various short-term and long-term civic engagement activities.

Dr. Meena Galliara, Director- Jasani Center for Social Entrepreneurship & Sustainability Management of NMIMS announced this tie up today and said that being located in close proximity of NMIMS campus, the Vile Parle Railway Station is a community asset and is regularly used by our faculty, staff, students and visitors. As part of our social responsibility, the SRF would like to contribute towards its beautification and upkeep.

In order to execute the cleanliness and beautification of the Station, SRF has partnered with Ketto, a social enterprise which facilitates on-line crowd funding for supporting social causes, Mumbai First, a not-for-profit organisation that supports public-private partnership initiatives, Making Difference, a leading NGO.

Dr. Galliara informed that the beautification program in collaboration with Western and Central Railway called “Humara Station, Humari Shaan” will involve planning, designing and executing creative & well thought out paintings over the entire Railway Station premises. The cost of cleanliness and beautification is estimated between Rs. 3.5 to 4 lakhs, which includes purchasing paint, brushes, and other material for cleaning.

donateSRF volunteers will be raising funds from students, faculty, staff, local residents, local schools and other contributors with the help of Ketto’s online crowed funding platform. All raised funds would go to a corpus fund maintained by Mumbai First.

The drive is scheduled during the Daan Utsav also known as Joy of Giving Week from 2nd to 8th October, 2016. Dr. Galliara urged students who are good at drawing/painting to volunteer their time between 9 pm to 12am during this drive.
