The NMIMS Mumbai campus was quite abuzz as the School of Business Management, hosted the felicitation of alumni celebrating their 25-years of bonding with the institute. Adding to the glittering mood was the selection of winners of the ‘Aluminate’ competition.
The Alumni Relations Cell, School of Business Management, NMIMS had organised a one-of-its kind student-alumni B-Plan Competition ‘Aluminate’ which saw over 350 participants from across more than 35 colleges, vying for the coveted title. The initial rounds saw participating teams come up with innovative ideas that have the potential to bring about a change in the existing ecosystem.
It was indeed natural that the competition’s grand finale provided an energetic start to the event’s proceedings on Saturday. SBM, NMIMS welcomed the lucky top 5 teams who reached the finals to present their ideas in presence of the grand jury.
Team Dungeons from SIMC, Pune went on to be the winner followed by team Chai pe Charcha from NMIMS and team The Invaders from SIBM Pune were the second and third position holders respectively.
The panel of judges included distinguished alumni of NMIMS and stalwarts from business world including Mr. Shailesh Chaturvedi, CEO-Tommy Hilfiger India, Mr. Ajay Popat, President-Ion Exchange, Ms. Deena Mehta, Managing Director-Asit C Mehta Investment Intermediaries Ltd and Former President of Bombay Stock Exchange, Mr. Gautam Sinha Roy, Sr. Vice President Fund Manager-Motilal Oswal Asset Management Pvt Ltd, Mr. Murali Ramakrishnan, Senior General Manager- ICICI Bank, Ms. Heike Kshetry, Sr. Consultant-Krauthammer International, Mr. Ajit Gupte, Chairman-NMIMS Business School Alumni Association & Dr. Hitesh Kalro, Professor In charge Alumni Relations.
One of the foremost management institutes in the country, NMIMS, hosted its annual Grand Alumni Meet on the evening of 11th November 2017. It was an evocative event that marked the homecoming, celebration of the batches of 1994 (FTMBA) and 1992 (PTMBA) for completing 25 years of their association with NMIMS. While the NMIMS BUSINESS SCHOOL ALUMNI ASSOCIATION organises Chapter Meets across various cities and towns in India, and in various parts of the world as well, however, commemorating the silver jubilee celebrations of the alumni at the Campus were definitely moments worth cherishing for life long.
For the batchmates it was indeed an unparalleled joy of communion with the Alma Mater, at its Mumbai campus. The Grand Alumni Meet saw the alumni breaking away from the cocoon of their corporate lives, spending memorable time renewing old bonds and engaging in gala celebrations.
The achievements of the alumni of NMIMS have played a pivotal role in making the institute one of India’s premier Business schools. Welcoming the alumni community on the occasion, Dr Debashis Sanyal, Vice Provost-Management and Dean of School of Business Management at NMIMS said, “It is a great privilege for all of us to invite you to the Felicitation Ceremony and the Grand Alumni Meet. It’s a great opportunity for all of you to meet your friends and refresh your old memories. You are our valued ambassador and we like you to be with us on this important occasion.”
The event showed how the college always strives to strengthen its bond with its alumni base and thank them for all their efforts.
NMIMS BUSINESS SCHOOL ALUMNI ASSOCIATION has been contributing in several ways towards building NMIMS into a premiere brand in the education field. Whether it is the Mentor- Mentee workshops or the scholarship programmes run by the NMIMS alumni community, it is committed towards helping NMIMS students to achieve their goals.
Mr. Ajit Gupte, Chairman NMIMS Business School Alumni Association said that the alumni association is in touch with more than 10,000 alumni, while over 3000 are part of the association as Lifetime Members and more than 500 CEO’s of various corporates are in constant touch with the institute. Alumni association offers scholarships to those students who face financial difficulties while pursuing their education. A student was in need of financial assistance due to the sudden demise of an earning member in the family. Such students are offered financial assistance which covers their tuition fees, lodging and food expenses. The financial assistance provided by alumni is an ongoing process as the goal is to ensure that no student of the institute has to forcefully drop in midst of his/her course following financial constraints.
Mr Dattatray Padsalgikar, the Commissioner of Police, Mumbai, was the guest of honor at the event which was held in the newly-inaugurated Mukesh Patel Auditorium.
The annual alumni magazine, Déjà vu, was launched at the gala dinner hosted at the Hard Rock Cafe, where Mr. Ajit Gupte addressed the community. It was indeed an evening filled with excitement and nostalgia as a sense of camaraderie among the alumni was highly felt during the entire celebrations.
