NMIMS aims for global status as it celebrates 15th University day

University Day is an occasion to celebrate the University’s achievements and lay plan for its future. The date 13th January, 2003 marked a significant milestone in the history of NMIMS as it got the status of a Deemed to be University.

The 15th University day of NMIMS was celebrated with great enthusiasm amid celebrations of securing A+ accreditation status given by NAAC.

Mr Vivek Kamath, Managing Director, MSD was the Chief Guest on this occasion and dignitaries Mr Bharat Sanghvi, Dr. Rajan Saxena, Vice Chancellor, NMIMS, Dr. Sharad Mhaiskar, Pro-Vice Chancellor and Dr Meena Chintamaneni, Registrar were present.

Dr. Rajan Saxena, Vice Chancellor of prestigious NMIMS said, “As an institution, NMIMS has the wisdom and knowledge of a 37 year old professional but the energy, enthusiasm and aggression of a 15-year-old child and we intend to keep it that way”.

The NMIMS Business School has earned recognition across business schools and continues its dominance and leadership in management education in the BBA programme emerging among top 5 programmes in India.

Dr. Saxena who is the driving force behind this institution with great legacy said, “This is a day to feel happy of accomplishments of the University; we have great alumni, founders, excellent teamwork of faculty, most important NMIMS Business School which completes 38 years in July’18, ranked among top 5 business schools in India.”

Dr. Saxena has over four decades of professional experience in management education, research, consulting and institution building, attributed the success of NMIMS to hard work of faculty, students and the staff. “We are proud of Business and all other schools as well. It is the great journey, great accomplishment may continue with many accomplishments every year. We have highest accreditation of A+ by National Assessment & Accreditation Council (NAAC). We are in top 15 universities with A+ or A++ accreditation. It is because of vision, dream and willingness of all to contribute,” he added.

Dr Saxena mentioned that another priority is the global accreditation for all schools and programs and that next five years would be dedicated to this aim with faculty and students working towards it.

“We are aiming to start School of Hospitality and Performing Arts and Medical College. The road ahead is long and difficult but together we can achieve our destination,” Dr Saxena added.

Three research magazines of national and international repute NMIMS Management Review Journal, Biomedical Research Journal and Journal of Economic & Public Policy were published on the occasion.

Mr Vivek Kamath, Managing Director at MSD Pharmaceuticals Private Limited has over twenty-five years of experience in India, South Asia & ASEAN markets. He appreciated efforts of NMIMS towards building characters of students and subsequently of the society as whole.

Mr Kamath lauding the institutes focus on building character of students said that this act has impacted nation and service to the mankind. “Values sustain success. Take pride in institute which is based on values, take these values ahead,” he added.

Mr Kamath drew attention to the fact that India produces largest number of scientists, engineers, science graduates. However, he expressed concern that it is still not a leader at global level in research.

He appealed to students to find their purpose and goal in life and urge them to continue to learn in life.

He also advised students to choose an underprivileged child and sponsor the child’s education expenses.

On this occasion, Mr. Kamath also felicitated staff members with Awards and Appreciation Certificates for their contribution towards the development and growth of the university.

Prof Sharad Mhaiskar while thanking the chief guest and other dignitaries present said the day marks the milestone in history of NMIMS.

The day was filled with various programmes including cultural events and a session on discussion on importance of research.
