NMIMS’s 3rd Edition of BADM Championship 2019

Mumbai: NMIMS’s Business Analytics and Data Mining Championship (BADM) 2019, marked its third year successfully with triple grandiosity and fervour held on 10th-12th Oct 2019 at NMIMS, Mumbai Campus. The Biggest hunt of Data Science Talent, spanned across India had participants from top premier institutes across engineering, management and other streams unleased the brightest students who are highly enthusiastic about data science and analytics under one roof.
Atmanand Singh and Aarat Majathia students of NMIMS’s Sunandan Divatia School of Science are the “New Champions” of the 3rd edition of BADM out of 1500+ participants followed by 1st Runner-up Bhavin Parmar, Avik Devnath and Gaurav Sharma of Indian Institute of Management, Lucknow and Soham Mhatre, Atharva Surve and Hrithika Shukla from NMIMS’s Mukesh Patel School of Technology Management & Engineering secured 2nd Runner-up. The university garner a whopping cash prize of Rs. 4,50,000 along with trophy and certificates. The Championship had three challenging stages viz. Online Assessment, Problem Solving (Hackathon) and Presentation to the Jury.

The “Analytics Conclave” under the platform of BADM 2019 was graced by renowned industry experts Mr. Mohit Kumar, Mr. Sanket Dhurandhar and Ms. Gayathri Angani, who exchanged views on Data sciences and its nuances. Firstly, Mr. Kumar gave insights on how the working of his organization have changed over the years and explained about his transition into analytics role. Mr. Sanket shared his experiences on how machine learning has opened paths for better connectivity. The conclave concluded with Miss. Gayatri expressing her views on E-Commerce Operations and how analytics is used to optimise return and order workflow.
Keynote Speaker Mr. Ankush Gadi, Director Crisil, who guided the students towards the latest innovations in artificial intelligence and automation. He added his opinions on control of machinery and processes used in various industries by autonomous systems through the use of technologies like robotics and computer software. Mr. Pallab Bhattacharya, provided insights on creating high performing analytics team and build an effective team to achieve great results in the analytics field and obtain most accurate results. On the other hand, Mr. Bhavik Gandhi spoke about the most vogue topic in the science field, which is ‘Artificial Intelligence’. He further said that, the processes like learning (the acquisition of information and rules for using the information), reasoning (using rules to reach approximate or definite conclusions) and self-correction helps in artificial intelligence.
BADM Championship 2019 introduced Dashboard Competition in this edition, where in the presentations were scrutinized by the Jury and announced Tejashree Keluskar of Vidyalankar Institute of Technology as the Winner, whereas 1st runner-up Asthir Kushwaha and Tanay Shah and 2nd runner-up Dishant Gandhi  from Usha Pravin Gandhi College of Arts, Science and Commerce.

The event culminated with splendid cultural performances and created soothing ambience for all. The BADM Championship was indeed a grand success this year again.
