1] FACULTY ACHIEVEMENTS

• Prof. Krupali Waghela conducted 5 workshops for RBI employees on writing skills on 2nd, 3rd, 4th, 21st, and 23rd of November.

• Prof. Smita Mazumdar & Prof. Sandeep Hegde participated in Manshodhan II, a research/project presentation competition organized by Mithibai College on 26th November, 2011. Prof. Smita Mazumdar secured second prize at Level II in Category C.

2] REPORT OF EVENTS AND FUNCTIONS

• Children’s Day was celebrated in a unique manner by “Vaayu-2012” ASM-SOC’s national level festival on 14th November 2011. A total of 400 underprivileged students from various orphanages were invited and an entertainment programme was organized for them in Bhaidas Hall. The event, organized in association with AIESEC Mumbai, started with a short speech by Mr. Krishna Hegde, MLA. The initiative was conceptualized with the sole purpose of facilitating a dialogue amongst the youth themselves and between the youth and the establishment. It saw performances and visits from celebrities like Alka Yagnik, Aadesh Srivastava, Yukta Mookhey, Siddharth Kannan, Hrishita Bhatt, Sushant Singh amongst others. Alka Yagnik sang a few of her famous songs for the children.

• International linkages: MOU was signed with Hogeschool, Utrecht University, for a student exchange program.

• Guest Lectures: The School organized a workshop on “Mind Mapping Technique” by Mr. Dharmendra Rai, Corporate Trainer for the students of FYBBA on 14th November 2011.

• The Social Responsibility Forum organized “Aarambh”, a marathon for charity, at Bandstand in Bandra, on 11th December, 2011. This was attended by various celebrities such as Preeti Jhangiani, Yuvraj Walmiki and Terence Lewis, as well as Chief Guest Mr. Mir Ranjan Negi, the renowned former Hockey Player of India.

3] ACTIVITIES OF VARIOUS STUDENT CELLS:

• The Marketing Club organized the event named “Raw Marketeers” on 20thOctober; 2011.The objective of the event was to create and market a new product from the materials given by the organizer which was common to all the groups.

• The Sports club organized an intra-college badminton tournament on the 18th and 19th of October, 2011. In all 45 students participated in various events. A student of S.Y.BBA. & F.Y.B.Com (Hons.) won the prizes in boys’ singles and girls’ singles respectively. Two students of S.Y.BBA won boys doubles and among girls doubles, one from F.Y.B.Com (Hons.) and S.Y.BBA won the prizes. Two students of S.Y. BBA Won mixed doubles.

• Students from the Debate Club of ASM-SOC had participated in the “Freshers Debate” organized by Shri Ram College of Commerce, Delhi. The competition was held from 22nd October to 24th October.

• The “Literary club” organized two events on 11th November to celebrate Maulana Abdul Kalam Azad’s birth day which was also observed as “National Education Day”. The events were:

a) Ms. Pratikshya Paramita of S.Y.BBA presented a paper titled “Maulana Azad: A Literary Hero”, elucidating on his life and works.

b) Debate on the motion: ‘Will this house allow private Universities to charge capitation fees?’

• The “Debating Society” participated in the debating tournament organized by R.V. College of Engineering, Bangalore held on 14th November.

• VIEW Magazine organized an event, ‘Captionture’, in November 2011, in which the students were required to send in captions for an abstract picture put up in class.

• Students participated in Quizzera, a quiz event held by VIEW Magazine, on 16 December 2011, which was based on General Awareness. The quiz was an MCQ questionnaire based on various sections viz. National and International affairs, Science and Technology, Sports, Business and Economics and Literature.

• The Marketing Club organized a ‘Marketing Week’ on 15th and 16th December, 2011. The event saw students participate in activities and games that tested their marketing and selling skills. Two events were organized- ‘Nano-ing’ and ‘Brands and Ladders’.

The winners of the first event, Utkarsh Nanglia and Pratikshit Joshi of F.Y.B.Com (Hons.), were awarded with Bluetooth headsets each and the winner of our second event, Jinay Shah of F.Y.B.B.A, was awarded with a cash prize of 1000 Rs.
