MPSTME TAKES THE LEAD IN THE NMIMS BUSINESS INCUBATOR
NMIMS’s “Business Incubator” has received formal approval of the Vice Chancellor. MPSTME is taking the lead in setting up a Business Incubator to promote entrepreneurship amongst the students of various schools of SVKM’s NMIMS University, Alumni and other professionals from outside. The incubator would be set up in consultation with NEN and Angel Investors with whom MPSTME has an institutional tie up. Initially, the project would be started with a small office space at MPSTME and eventually it will grow up to a full fledged incubator of about 5000 sq.ft. having hundred incubating seats.”
ALUMNI GET-TOGETHER
The NMIMS-MPSTME Alumni Association organized its first alumni meet on 20 August, 2011 at the MPSTME Seminar hall.The function was inaugurated by Dr. Sunil Rai (Dean, Technology Management) in the presence of dignitaries Dr. Anant Jhaveri (HOD, Chemical Engg.), Prof. R. C. Agarwal (Chairperson, Technology Management) and Prof. Pramod Pandit (HOD, Mechanical Engg.). The 46 alumni present shared their views on the meet and suggested many inputs for future growth of the Alumni Association.
CONVOCATION
The 3rd Convocation of MPSTME was held on 23rd July 2011. 575 students got their degrees, which included 8 PhD’s besides the B. Tech. MBA (Tech.), M. Tech. and MCA degrees.
Dr. K. Venkataramanan, Whole Time Director, Larsen & Toubro graced the occasion as the Chief Guest. Shri S.C Kalia, Executive Director, Union Bank of India and Mr. Mrutunjay Singh, Associate Vice President – Pune Development Centre, Infosys were the Guests of Honour.
Dr. Ketan Shah, Associate Professor, IT and Dr. SudeepThepade, Associate Professor, Computer Engineering were conferred PhDs.
STUDENTS PASSED EMCISA
21 students of B.Tech Final Year Trim X who had opted for Information Storage and Management as Elective passed the Internationally recognised certification of the same i.e. EMC CERTIFIED INFORMATION STORAGE ASSOCIATE (EMCISA E20-001) under the Guidance of Prof. Dhirendra Mishra, ISM Faculty computer Engineering Department, MPSTME.
This certification is based on the ISM Course being provided to students in Trimester X as part of the NMIMS-EMC Academic Alliance program.
INTERNATIONAL VISITORS AT MPSTME
Konstantine Thelle - President, EDUCATS University- Switzerland Former (& Founder) CEO of Swatch, Switzerland was invited for a guest lecture for the MBA (Tech.), X Trimester Students on the topic “Entrepreneurship Through Sound Management practices-Swatch" on 12th July, 2011.
FACULTY ACHIEVEMENTS
A total of 22 research articles were published by MPSTME faculty between August and September in international as well as national journals such as IJSCE IJACSA, IJCSES, IJIP, JOT and MPSTME’s own journal, TechnoPath. Ten out of these were refereed articles.
A research project has been taken up by Dr Ajay N Phirke, Dr Suhas Y Shingare and Dr Vijay N Pawar on “Acquisition and processing of physical parameters using microcontroller”. The research will last for a period of 6 months at a budget of 95,000 Rupees.
Techno-path, vol. 3, 2, July 2011, was released this month. Mrs. V.R.Lakshmi Gorty worked as convener for the Journal of Science, Engineering and Technology management.
Prof. Sudeep Thepade was invited by organizers of International Conference ICMET as Member, International Review Committee, ICMET 2011: 3rd International Conference on Mechanical and Electrical Technology (ICMET 2011), Dalian, China. August 26-27, 2011.
A training programme on Artificial Neural Network & Fuzzy Systems was conducted on the 17th of September, 2011, for the computer engineering department’s internal faculty development purpose. This technical program saw a total of 22 participants, including faculty from MPSTME, SPPSPTM & UPG.
PLACEMENTS AT MPSTME
Two Students were offered international placements by Works Applications, a Japanese firm, with a starting salary of approx. Rs. 36,00,000 /-(Thirty Six lakhs), p.a.
OTHER EVENTS
MPSTME students celebrated Engineer’s Day on the 15th of September. The Student’s Council arranged for a white board for students and teachers alike to get creative and express themselves as engineers. Although no incentives were necessary for these whacky future-engineers, each contributor was awarded mint chocolates.
Mobile Communication Technology & GPS - Gazzette Review Competition was conducted by IEEE, MPSTME on 19th August, 2011. 44 students participated in the same.
