World Pharmacist Day Celebrated


World’s Pharmacist Day was celebrated on 26th September, 2016 by the members of School of Pharmacy & Technology Management of NMIMS, Shirpur Campus with felicitation of the Pharmacists, Skit, Debate competition and Quiz competition.

Pharmacists are an integral part of the health care society. “Pharmacists: Caring for you” is the theme of this year’s World Pharmacists Day. The theme was chosen to reflect the important role of pharmacists in providing care to the public, and also to highlight the emotional connection they have with their patients. The role of pharmacists has evolved from that of a provider of medicines to that of a provider of care.

The event started with an Introduction followed by the Pharmacist Oath. The students felicitated all the teachers as they are the ones who are the true pharmacist and they guide the students to be a responsible pharmacist as well.

A skit was performed by the first year students depicting the importance of a teacher in making us what we are today.

The Debate Competition was organized on topics ‘E-Pharmacy in India’ and ‘Ban on Fixed dose combination’. Students as well as the teachers enjoyed the informative debate. The winner of the debate were Kapil Gore and Richa Shah. The best speaker was awarded to Manu Verma. Dr. Chandrakant Bonde, Dr. Sanjay Sharma and Dr. Santosh Yele judged the competition.

Five teams each comprising of four members participated in ‘The Quiz Competition’ consisting of three rounds Logo round, Rapid Fire round and the third round consisted of questions related to chemical structures. The team of Shambhavi Shahi, Kapil Gore, Pradipti Das and Durgesh Devalla won the competition while the Runner team was Kartikey Singh Raikwar, Akshay Kothawade, Rushikesh Bansode and Shri Ram.

The event was organized by Ashi Gupta, Atharva Bamgude, Arun Lal and other students under the guidance of the cultural incharge Dr. Ashok Panigrahi.
