MPSTME Students’ Council Research Cell organized Facebook Developer Conference


Developer Circles from Facebook are a great way for people to join a network of developers around the world, organized locally by members of the community. Developer Circles around the world are hosting in-person Build Days, where developers and community leaders can meet each other and build solutions together. One such meet up was organized by the Students’ Council’s Research Cell of Mukesh Patel School of Technology Management & Engineering on 18th February 2019, in collaboration with Facebook, which resulted into Mumbai’s biggest ever developer conference. The conference was attended by more than 700 students/developers at the Mukesh Patel Auditorium.

The main motive of the conference was to enhance the maker ideology in the students. Dr. Jayant Gandhi, Honorary Jt. Secretary, SVKM and mentor MPSTME guided the students and stressed the importance of Technology in today’s world. Dr. N. T. Rao, Dean-MPSTME spoke about how MPSTME is always collaborative and open towards the betterment of the quality of education offered to the students at NMIMS.

There were eminent speakers like:

  • Ojasvi Bhatia from Facebook who handles to product partnership for the South Asia pacific.
  • Krupalu Mehta founder and CEO at Parralax Labs.
  • Ali Mustufa Shaikh one out of only 2 POCs in the world for Google Crowdsource.
  • Gaurang Shetty, Founder and CEO at RIIDL, founder at Maker Mela, and Developer Circles by Facebook, Mumbai Lead.
  • A webinar by Mr. Saiman Shetty who is a former Tesla control engineer and currently working at Lyft.

Mr. Gaurang Shetty took the stage by storm by speaking about various ways of funding a startup and how the government of India is helping the startup culture.

Mr. Ojasvi Bhatia sharing his insights on different Marketing strategies used by Facebook and how local startups can adapt them.

Mr. Krupalu Mehta shared the importance of AR/VR technology in the coming days and how it will impact every industry, be it Computer science or civil or mechanical or even medicine.

Mr. Ali Mustufa speaking on gender biasing in Machine learning and Artificial intelligence. His talk didn’t only restrict to Technology but also how to improve ourselves in a way that we can benefit the society.

Every attendee was presented with a certificate by Facebook. This conference turned out to be a stress buster for the students and understand the importance of self-learning and how they can work on themselves.

Research Cell of MPSTME looks forward for more such collaborations which provides such opportunities and experiences for the students of NMIMS.
