Today was the day the students of SVKM’s NMIMS School of Business Management, Mumbai Campus had waited for, since they first set foot in this prestigious University- the Convocation Day; which awarded each one of them the fruits of their hard work. It was graced by the presence of the Chief Guest Managing Director & General Manager – Speciality Care Established Pharmaceuticals of Abbott India, Mr. Vivek Kamath, Honorary Jt. Secretary, Managing Committee & Executive Committee of SVKM Dr. Jayant Gandhi (Nominee of the Chancellor of SVKM’s NMIMS Shri. Amrish Patel for the Convocation),Vice Chancellor of SVKM’s NMIMS Deemed to be University, Dr. Rajan Saxena, Provost & Dean, School of Business Management – Mumbai, Dr. Ramesh Bhat and the Registrar, SVKM’s NMIMS, Dr. Meena Chintamaneni. The esteemed University conferred Convocation awards to a total of 208 students spanning from MBA Law, Part Time MBA, Executive MBA, Part Time MBA in Social Entrepreneurship and Executive MBA in Pharmaceutical Management respectively.
Dr. Rajan Saxena (Vice Chancellor, SVKM’s NMIMS Deemed to be University) addressed the Honoured students and shared his views on life and expectations post graduation, “ The purpose of life is to develop socially, pursuing inclusive agenda and living in harmony with the external environment. The compromises that were made while doing this MBA course is equal to complimenting oneself.” He proclaimed that completing this degree marks the end of an era and the beginning of a new one. Finally, he concluded by congratulating the students for their extreme determination and expressed that they are all expected to be seen leading in life.
According to Dr. Ramesh Bhat (Provost & Dean, School of Business Management – Mumbai), SVKM’s NMIMS has always taught its students to face challenges and to pursue the positive values of the powers of integrity. The time spent here is a Basic Foundation for Success in life and a Graduate from NMIMS has the Corporate Citizenship in his or her DNA.
The Convocation address was delivered by Chief Guest Mr. Vivek Kamath, (Managing Director & General Manager – Speciality Care Established Pharmaceuticals of Abbott India) who contributed fundamental Life Lessons that he had learnt in his 28 years of being in Healthcare. He said that Education is a Selfless Service, that one must respect the teachers and the parents who have given their heart and soul to the betterment of their students and children. With his witty and wise palaver, he taught the students the importance of value system, understanding ones potential and of being Humble.
The Convocation Day was definitely an occasion to be inscribed in the minds of the students, who will now have a different, broader and a better outlook of their lives and their duties as citizens of the world. The words of Mr. Kamath will always be etched in their minds, “ Before, knowledge was the differentiator; now it is What You Do with that Knowledge that makes all the difference.”
