School of Pharmacy & Technology Management, Mumbai & Shirpur hosts Virtual Convocation Ceremony

  • 6 students were conferred with Ph.D. in Pharmaceutical Sciences
  • 21 students of Master of Pharmacy in Pharmaceutics + MBA, 17 students of Master of Pharmacy in Pharmaceutical Quality Assurance + MBA, 13 students of Master of Pharmacy in Pharmaceutical Technology + MBA, 8 students of Master of Pharmacy in Industrial Pharmacy + MBA, 5 students of Master of Pharmacy in Pharmaceutics, 7 students of Master of Pharmacy in Pharmaceutical Quality Assurance have been successfully conferred degrees in this program
  • 104 students of Bachelor of Pharmacy + MBA (Pharma. Tech.) and 56 students of Bachelor of Pharmacy have been successfully conferred degrees in this program

Mumbai, 21st August, 2021: SVKM’s NMIMS School of Pharmacy & Technology Management (SPTM), one of India’s leading education institutions with a 15-year legacy of academic excellence, held its annual convocation ceremony on Saturday, 21st August, 2021.
The convocation was presided by Chief Guest Mr. Rajeev Sibal, President India Region Formulations, Lupin Limited; Nominee of Honorable Chancellor, SVKM’s NMIMS Dr. Jayant Gandhi, Honorable Joint Secretary SVKM and Mentor SPPSPTM; Dr. Ramesh Bhat, Vice Chancellor; Dr. Sharad Mhaiskar, Pro-Vice-Chancellor; Dr. Meena Chintamaneni, Registrar; Dr. R.S. Gaud, Director, SVKM’s Pharma Institutions; Dr. Bala Prabhakar, Dean, SPPSPTM; and faculty members of SPPSPTM. The ceremony was compered by Dr. Priyanka Prabhu, Faculty, SPPSPTM.
During the welcome address, Dr. Ramesh Bhat, Vice Chancellor, NMIMS Deemed-to-be University, congratulated the graduating students and shared his words of wisdom, “The pandemic did not come with a rulebook and the university rose to the challenges faced in ensuring academic continuity amid the uncertainty. The graduating batch learnt various pharmaceutical and management lessons, team-work, importance of healthcare and responded positively instead of reacting, by observing how NMIMS dealt with the internal VUCA.” He concluded by congratulating the batch of graduating students from an institute of eminence and urged them to use their skills to make a difference.
Dr. Bala Prabhakar, Dean, SPPSPTM presented the School review, acknowledged the achievements of students and said,School of Pharmacy & Technology Management, SVKM’s NMIMS has been a leading institute in research and building the Brand NMIMS. SPTM has embodied excellence in teaching pharmaceutical sciences and management. NMIMS is one of the few universities in the country to finish all academic activities on time. The school has been actively pursuing research by empowering the faculty and students. Faculty have published 179 papers in national and international journals of repute. Innovative research at the school has also resulted in one granted patent during the year 2020-2021. Also this year faculty members received research funding from prestigious government agencies such as DBT-BIRAC, SERB, AYUSH, worth Rs. 104.34 lakhs, industrial consultancies of Rs. 48.68 lakhs, NMIMS university seed grant of Rs. 10.21 lakhs, and grant from Abo Academy University, Finland of Rs. 50000.
SPTM organized 68 online faculty development programs, workshops, pharma talks and webinars to keep teachers abreast with latest ongoings of Pharma Industry. Extra- and co-curricular activities have always been an essential component for overall development of students. SPTM students have participated in several national and international competitions with themes on ideation, B-plan, industry-defined problems, to name a few and have brought laurels to the institute. Student organizations such as Isthmus-Urjja, Kshamta, The External Committee and Excalibur have organized several events such as Cultural and Corporate Fests, Pharma and Management Fest, Teacher’s day, World Pharmacist day, National Education Day, National Youth Day and International Yoga Day, to name a few, with grand success.”
The Dean advised all students to contribute to the fullest in their chosen path of work and create a meaningful impact in the society. She added that convocating graduates must leave a mark in their respective work profiles and make their alma mater proud. She concluded by urging students to have an insatiable appetite for learning and be open to new ideas.
Delivering the convocation address, Chief Guest Mr. Rajeev Sibal, President India Region Formulations, Lupin Limited, inspired the Graduating students with his words of wisdom. He shared with the students many important life lessons & how these helped him grow & become successful in his career –
  • Focus on the Present & always stay a step ahead
  • Have conviction in whatever you do even when you have to take tough decisions
  • Work hard & chase your ideas, appreciation & criticism is all part of the game
  • Chase career & not money
  • Think what you can contribute to an organization

  • Adapt to changes as nothing is constant
  • Have a learning Mindset
 He concluded his speech with a quote from Warren Buffet, “Invest in yourself”, where he again focused on the important of being a lifelong learner. At the end, he congratulated the graduating students & wishes them a great future ahead.
The top-ranking students from each program for both 2020 and 2021 batches were part of Dean list and gold, silver medals and certificates were awarded to all the meritorious students. The ceremony concluded with vote of thanks by Dr. Sharad Mhaiskar, Pro Vice Chancellor NMIMS University.
