NMIMS MPSTME and L&T Mindtree Collaborate to Launch Industry-Integrated Master’s Programmes in AI and Data Science

Mumbai, India – May 28, 2024 – NMIMS Mukesh Patel School of Technology Management & Engineering (MPSTME) signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with L&T Mindtree on May 28, 2024. This collaboration aims to offer joint industry-integrated postgraduate programmes in AI and Data Science.

NMIMS has always been at the forefront of providing its students with industry-relevant exposure. The MoU was a strategic step in that direction and aligned with the NMIMS ethos of nurturing employable graduates. NMIMS MPSTME, with its state-of-the-art facilities, strong industry connections, and highly trained faculty, has been preparing students to excel in their professional careers since its inception in 2006. This ensures that they are future-ready in light of rapid technological advancements.

The MoU signing ceremony took place at the NMIMS Mumbai campus where members from both NMIMS and L&T Leadership teams were present.

Representing L&T Mindtree were Mr. Rajiv Jain, Executive Vice-President, Business Operations, Mr. Jothiganesh Nagarajan, Vice-President, Enterprise Automation & EduTech, Mr. Ashish Varekar, Vice-President, Enterprise AI, Ms. Pallavi Anekar, Senior Principal-Consulting, Lead EduTech & Automation Academy and Dr. Rathinavelu Arumugam, Principal-Consulting, Lead-Education Programmes and Academia Engagement. From L&T EduTech, the event was graced by Mr. Sanjai Ranganathan, Chief Executive, and Dr. Anbuthambi, Head of Strategy and Partnership.

Meanwhile, the NMIMS leadership at the ceremony included Dr. Jayant Gandhi, Hon. Secretary, SVKM, Dr. Ramesh Bhat, Vice Chancellor, NMIMS, Dr. Sharad Mhaiskar, Pro Vice Chancellor, NMIMS, Dr. Meena Chintamaneni, Pro Vice Chancellor, NMIMS and Dr. Alka Mahajan, Dean, NMIMS MPSTME.

Dr Jayant Gandhi, Hon. Secretary, SVKM, called the partnership between NMIMS and L&T Mindtree a significant step forward in the University’s commitment to providing students with industry-relevant education. “This collaboration will not only enhance the learning experience but also ensure that our graduates are well-equipped to meet the challenges of the future,” he said.

Dr. Sharad Mhaiskar welcomed all the dignitaries present at the ceremony, which was followed by a detailed overview of NMIMS by Dr. Ramesh Bhat. Talking about the collaboration with L&T Mindtree, Dr. Ramesh Bhat said, “The collaboration is happening at a very apt time when generative AI is becoming critical for everyone. Currently, we are in the process of formulating a policy for Gen AI usage and need a lot of support from industry leaders like L&T to help us define the contours of our policy to benefit both students and faculty. I look forward to ongoing support from the L&T Group and many more initiatives arising out of this collaboration.”

Mr. Rajiv Jain, Executive Vice President, Business Operations, said, “Gen AI is taking everyone by surprise, and we are also learning. So, we tied up with L&T Eductech as a knowledge partner to create programmes that are more industry-relevant to aid people across industries and academia. A collaboration like will make new hires productive from day one and save the company’s resources in training them. This programme will help students learn the ground realities of business in their classrooms.”

In his address, Mr. Sanjai Ranganathan noted, “L&T Edutech was established to equip employees with industry-relevant skills and knowledge. We understand the challenges educators face in updating curricula, which often requires a complete cycle of revisions. Our programmes are designed to address this gap. This collaboration is just the beginning, and we are excited about the future opportunities it will bring.”

The ceremony concluded on an optimistic note with Dr. Alka Mahajan summarising the strategic partnership. She emphasised the importance of continuous collaboration and innovation to keep pace with technological advancements.
