The Induction Program Inaugural Ceremony for first-year engineering students at SVKM’s NMIMS, MPSTME, Shirpur was held on July 13, 2024, with great enthusiasm and spirit to welcome the new batch of first year engineering students. The first-year induction program is scheduled to run from July 13, 2024, to July 20, 2024. The one week induction program aims to acquaint students with essential academic regulations, evaluation systems, and campus life protocols.
Dr. Venkatadri Marriboyina, Associate Dean, MPSTME, Shirpur, addressed the gathering, warmly welcoming the new batch of engineering students and their parents. He advised students to stay informed about global events and participate actively in the various clubs available on the NMIMS Shirpur campus to broaden their knowledge and perspectives. He advised students to step out of their comfort zones to progress and to always work hard for success. He encouraged students to seek guidance from faculty members, respect society, and practice self-reflection before judging others. He also addressed parents, acknowledging them as the first teachers of their children, while teachers are the second parents. He emphasized the collaborative role of teachers and parents in the student’s development. He expressed his confidence in the students’ potential and voiced his hope to see them achieve their best, noting that their success would bring pride and happiness to everyone.
This was followed by an inspiring welcome address by Dr. Sunita Patil, Director, NMIMS, Shirpur campus who highlighted the rich legacy and achievements of NMIMS. She emphasized the institution’s consistent efforts towards the development of students, noting that NMIMS has become a preferred academic destination. She outlined several innovative initiatives, including the integration of GenAI. She advised students to take their academic journey seriously and highlighted the importance of the Student Resource Book (SRB), which includes discipline rules, guidelines, and the internal continuous assessment system. She assured that the institution is committed to grooming students for successful placements but stressed that students must excel to secure good job packages. She also addressed parents, urging them to maintain regular communication with their children. Parents were asked to attend parent-teacher meetings to monitor their child’s progress. The campus offers various facilities, including a gym, sports areas, a music room, and a movie theater, and parents were encouraged to motivate their children to utilize these facilities.
The inaugural ceremony concluded with a vote of thanks, expressing gratitude to everyone involved in organizing the event. Mrs. Rita Patel, In-charge, NMIMS Shirpur campus, graced the occasion as the chief guest. Mr. Rahul Dande, Chief Accountant and Administrator, MPTP, Shirpur Campus, was also present during the Inaugural Program.
The first day of the Induction Program concluded with an interactive session with parents. This session addressed various queries and concerns of the parents, assuring them of the supportive and nurturing environment at NMIMS Shirpur Campus. Parents inquired about the types of competitions available for sports and cultural activities, provisions for students missing classes due to valid reasons, and the preparation and support provided for placements.
Parents also sought information on how faculty members stay updated and the extent of industry exposure students receive. They asked about methods for monitoring student attendance and performance updates, measures in place to manage stress and discourage unproductive activities, and activities scheduled for weekends. Other queries included procedures to ensure academic integrity, such as preventing the use of resources like ChatGPT for assignments. Also inquired about support for students planning higher education abroad, criteria for campus placements, and the scheduling of parent-teacher meetings. Overall, parents appreciated the comprehensive responses provided by NMIMS Shirpur Campus, highlighting their confidence in the institution’s commitment to student welfare and academic excellence.
