Mumbai, November 14, 2024: NMIMS University and the Financial University under the Government of the Russian Federation (FinU Moscow) took a significant step towards a strategic partnership.
A high-level delegation from FinU Moscow, led by Rector Dr. Stanislav Prokofiev, visited NMIMS University. The delegation explored avenues for academic and research collaboration. Dr. Ramesh Bhat, Vice Chancellor NMIMS, provided an overview of NMIMS, highlighting its academic programs, research initiatives, and international partnerships.
The delegation included Dr Ekaterina Kameneva, Vice-Rector for Academic Affairs; Dr Grigory Ostapenko, Vice-Rector for Digitalization; Dr Liliya Prikhodko, Head of International Relations Department; Dr Pavel Seleznev, Dean of International Relations Faculty; Daniil Shakhov, Deputy Head of Executive Office; and Oleg Kaleushchenko, Vice Consul, Russian Consulate General.
NMIMS University was represented by Dr Ramesh Bhat, Vice Chancellor; Dr Sharad Mhaiskar, Pro-Vice Chancellor; Dr Meena Chintamaneni, Pro-Vice Chancellor; Dr Abhishek Ranjan, Pro-Vice Chancellor; Dr Minu Mehta, Dean, School of Commerce; Dr Amita Vaidya, Director, School of Economics; Dr Archana Bhise, Professor, MPSTME; Dr Jayakumar Bondili, Dean, School of Science; and Dr Veena Vohra, Vice Dean, School of Business Management.
During the visit, both institutions discussed a range of potential collaborations, including:
- Academic Exchange: Facilitating student and faculty exchange programs to foster cross-cultural learning and research.
- Joint Research: Collaborating on joint research projects to address global challenges in economics, finance, and management.
- Dual Degree Programs: Exploring the development of dual degree programs to offer students a unique and internationally recognized qualification.
- Online Courses: Offering online courses to NMIMS students on international business, providing them with valuable insights into global markets
As an initial step, FinU Moscow has offered a free online course on international business to 50 NMIMS students. This course will provide students with in-depth knowledge of conducting business between India and Russia, particularly in light of the growing trade gap between the two countries.
Both universities are optimistic about the future of this partnership and are committed to working together to achieve mutual goals. The signing of a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) is expected in the near future to formalize the collaboration and outline specific areas of cooperation.
