International Industrial Visit (2024-25) by the 26th Cohort of MBA (Entrepreneurship & Family Business) and MBA (Entrepreneurship) Students from PDSE&FBM, NMIMS: Exploring Global Excellence in Western Europe

The 26th cohort of MBA (E&FB) and 4th batch of MBA (Entrepreneurship) students from the PDSE&FBM, as a part of an International Industrial Visit to Western Europe for 12 days, explored some of Europe’s most advanced industrial and technological facilities, gaining insights into world-class operations and futuristic developments. This meticulously planned and curated trip led by Director, Prof.Seema Mahajan aimed to expose the next generation of business leaders from family businesses to cutting-edge innovations, global business practices, and the diverse startup ecosystems of the region.

The trip included visits to renowned establishments such as IMEC, a leading global R&D hub for nanoelectronics and digital technologies where Mr. Arul Das, Senior Business Development Manager, provided insightful explanations on leveraging nanotechnology, data, and AI to create transformative applications across sectors such as healthcare, agriculture, smart cities, mobility, logistics, manufacturing, and energy. The students also explored Health House, an innovative experience center highlighting cutting-edge advancements in digital health, offering valuable insights for those in the medical diagnostics segment to enhance their portfolios. Additionally, the cohort visited the Mercedes-Benz plant, a world-class facility showcasing excellence in automotive engineering and production. In addition, the cohort visited Nina Trans, a key player in logistics solutions; Riedel Glass Factory, a legacy brand famous for its unparalleled craftsmanship in glassware; Schindler, Port Innovation Lab, a global leader in elevators and escalators; the Samsung Development Center, a hub for groundbreaking technological innovations; and the Port of Antwerp, one of Europe’s largest and most significant ports driving global trade. The trip also included visits to Cristalleries du Val-Saint-Lambert, celebrated for its exquisite crystal artistry; the BMW Belt, showcasing innovation in automotive design and manufacturing; and Swarovski Kristallwelten Wattens, an iconic destination blending crystal craftsmanship with immersive experiences.

A highlight of the visit was an engaging session with Mr.Han Vloeberghs, Economic Policy Advisor at City of Leuven. He shared invaluable insights into Leuven’s vibrant startup ecosystem and highlighted the country’s strategic advantages as a business hub in Europe. The exposure to world-class facilities and direct interactions with industry leaders inspired students to envision innovative strategies for their entrepreneurial ventures and family businesses.

The visit also reinforced NMIMS’s commitment to providing its students with a global perspective, equipping them with the skills and knowledge needed to thrive in an increasingly competitive and interconnected world. The interactions and experiences gained during this visit will undoubtedly empower them to think globally while acting locally.”
