NMIMS University Hosts Baden-Württemberg Delegation, Exploring Career Prospects in Germany

Mumbai, February 8, 2025 – SVKM’s NMIMS University hosted a significant event, “Ziel: Germany, Career Prospects for NMIMS Students,” at the Mukesh Patel Auditorium, NMIMS, Mumbai. In conjunction with the tenth anniversary of the partnership between Baden-Württemberg and Maharashtra, the event focused on strengthening academic ties and expanding opportunities for NMIMS students in Germany.

The distinguished gathering included Ms. Petra Olschowski, Hon’ble Minister of Science, Research and Arts for the State of Baden-Württemberg, Germany, who led a delegation of representatives from 14 universities in Baden-Württemberg. Also in attendance were Dr. Katja Lasch, Director DAAD India, Mr. Stephen Brauer MdL Member of Parliament; Mr. Michael Joukov Member of Parliament, and prominent NMIMS functionaries including Mr. Amrish Patel, Hon. Chancellor, Mr. Nayan Patel, Managing Committee Member, Dr. Ramesh Bhat, Vice Chancellor, Ms. Sneha Parekh from SVKM, Mr. Bharat Sanghvi, Hon. Vice President, Dr. Jayant Gandhi, Hon. Secretary, Pro Vice Chancellors, Deans and Directors, along with over 600 NMIMS students.

The day commenced with a lunch and preliminary meetings at the Mini Auditorium, followed by a formal welcome by Dr. Ramesh Bhat, introductions of the dignitaries. NMIMS University’s presentation and the release of the “Mit Einander” book were followed by a presentation on TBIA by Dr. Jan Riel and a speech by Minister Petra Olschowski. The initial session concluded with a memento exchange and group photo. The main “Ziel: Germany” session in the Mukesh Auditorium auditorium began with a welcome by Dr. Ramesh Bhat, an overview of the event by Mr. Nayan Patel, and a recorded speech by Dr. Frank Mentrup. Dr. Katja Lasch presented information from the DAAD, followed by a video featuring NMIMS students in Germany. Ms. Petra Olschowski Hon. Minister of Research and Education, State of Baden Wurtemburg,  Dr. Rose Marie Beck, President  HKA, Dr. Sabine Rein President  HTWG Konstanz addressed the students on the career opportunities in Germany. A lively Q&A session with students provided valuable insights, and the event concluded with an announcement by Dr. Sharad Mhaiskar, PVC, NMIMS and a vote of thanks by Mr. Murad Futehally.

 The event’s primary objective was to explore and foster career prospects for NMIMS students in Germany. Discussions centered on academic advancement, student internships, particularly in engineering, student exchange programs, and collaborative research opportunities for NMIMS faculty. The Baden-Württemberg delegation’s visit emphasized the growing interest in educational exchange between the two regions, particularly in fields like engineering and computer science. Minister Olschowski highlighted India’s emergence as a key player in higher education and the enthusiasm of German universities to partner with Indian institutions. The increasing number of Indian students choosing to study in Baden-Württemberg, now the second largest group of international students after those from China, underscoring the importance of this partnership. The “Ziel: Germany” event successfully concluded, with NMIMS expressing its commitment to supporting students interested in pursuing academic and internship opportunities in Germany, enabling them to benefit from world-class education and professional experiences.
