Mumbai, September 2025: SVKM’s Narsee Monjee Institute of Management Studies (NMIMS) School of Performing Arts celebrated its Annual Convocation on 29th August 2025. The event honoured the graduating students and marked an important milestone in their academic journey.
A Day to Remember
The ceremony commenced with the academic procession, the lighting of the diya, and the rendition of the NMIMS Anthem. The Pro Vice Chancellor formally declared the convocation.
Dr. Vikas Bharadwaj, Dean, School of Performing Arts, delivered the Welcome Address. He then presented the School Review for the academic year 2024–25. The university awarded degrees to graduates from two batches—B.A. (Music – Western Contemporary Music) and B.A. (Music – Indian Music). In addition, the school honoured students with awards in recognition of their academic excellence.
A major highlight of the event was the release of the fifth edition of the Annual Magazine Swaragini 2025. The magazine captures the school’s journey during the year, covering student achievements, performances, workshops, and guest artist sessions. It also documents co-curricular initiatives that enhance holistic learning. More importantly, Swaragini celebrates the creative spirit and talent of students and alumni. Above all, it highlights the milestones of students and alumni, reflecting the artistic excellence that defines SoPA.
Wisdom from the Experts
In his address, Dr. Bharadwaj said, “At SoPA, we believe music education goes beyond the classroom; it is about passion, discipline, and creativity every single day. I take pride in witnessing our students grow into accomplished musicians, ready to contribute to the world of performing arts.”
Dr. Abhishek Ranjan, Pro Vice Chancellor of SVKM’s NMIMS University and Chief Guest, inspired the graduating students with his words. He remarked, “Convocation is not an end but a new beginning as you step beyond the protected environment of campus into the real world. Your journey at SoPA has been about more than degrees; it has been about resilience, creativity, and transforming passion into mastery. The rehearsals, the riyaz, and the countless hours of practice have taught you that discipline brings freedom, collaboration builds strength, and art carries responsibility. The world is now your stage. Let your music, your creativity, and your expression inspire, heal, and leave a lasting mark on society.”
The convocation concluded with the Sustainability Oath, a vote of thanks, the National Anthem, and a celebratory lunch. The event reaffirmed NMIMS School of Performing Arts’ commitment to academic excellence, creativity, and nurturing future leaders in the performing arts.
