Fireless Cooking Competition: NMIMS School of Hospitality Management Sparks Creativity and Culinary Fun

SVKM’s NMIMS School of Hospitality Management recently hosted the Fireless Cooking Competition – Masterplate, an immersive experiential learning event designed to ignite creativity and curiosity among students of Classes 11 and 12. The full-day event transformed the campus into a vibrant space where young learners explored hospitality, innovation, and teamwork in action.

A Day of Flavours, Colours, and Learning

The highlight of the event was a one-hour fireless cooking challenge, where students created imaginative dishes without using open flames. Beyond cooking, participants enjoyed interactive games, a presentation on hospitality careers, and a guided tour of the campus. Schools from across the region, including DAV Public School, Apeejay School, Prabhavati Padamshi Soni International Junior College, Ryan International School (Sanpada), and Goldcrest High (Vashi), brought their energy, enthusiasm, and creativity to the event.

Laughter, teamwork, and excitement filled every corner as students painted, plated, and presented their culinary creations. The event gave participants a real taste of campus life while encouraging problem-solving, time management, and hands-on learning.

Nurturing Future Hospitality Leaders

Masterplate was more than a competition—it was a platform for learning, engagement, and inspiration. Students managing stalls and guiding their peers gained invaluable leadership and event management experience. The fireless cooking concept also reinforced sustainability and safe culinary practices.

The event strengthened NMIMS’s connections with local schools, showcased the vibrancy of hospitality education, and inspired prospective students to consider careers in this dynamic field. Positive feedback from participants, teachers, and parents highlighted the event’s success and its impact on shaping creative, responsible, and skilled future hospitality professionals.

With plans to expand next year through workshops, alumni sessions, and broader school participation, NMIMS ensures that Masterplate remains a signature platform for innovation, learning, and fun.
