SVKM’s NMIMS Kirit P. Mehta School of Law successfully conducted a Research Seminar/Workshop on Legal Research on 18 November 2025 at the Moot Court Room, Mumbai campus. Organised by the Centre for Research and Conferences (CRC), the session was designed to equip first-year law students with essential legal research skills and foundational exposure to key research databases.
Expert Insights from a Distinguished Legal Scholar
The seminar was led by Dr. Asha Bajpai, Former Professor of Law & Founding Dean, School of Law, TISS Mumbai, and Former Founding Faculty, NLSIU Bengaluru. Dr. Bajpai provided an in-depth introduction to major legal research platforms including HeinOnline, JSTOR, Manupatra, SCC Online, EBSCO, and key Government legal resources.
She emphasised the importance of structured research, critical thinking, and the ability to identify credible sources—skills vital for budding legal scholars and practitioners.
NMIMS Faculties Leading the Initiative
This initiative was conceptualised under the guidance of Ms. Shraddha Pandit, Assistant Professor, KPMSOL, NMIMS Mumbai. She led the workshop along with Ms. Arushi Chauhan, Assistant Professor, KPMSOL and Ms. Sukriti Srivastava, Assistant Professor, KPMSOL
The faculty team ensured an engaging, hands-on learning environment where students could explore research methodologies relevant to academic writing, moot courts, and case analysis.
Strengthening Research Culture at NMIMS School of Law
The seminar is part of KPMSOL’s ongoing efforts to nurture a strong research culture on campus. By exposing students early to advanced legal tools and databases, the school aims to build confidence, competence, and academic rigor among its learners.
Commitment to Holistic Legal Education
Reflecting on the session, the organising faculty highlighted the importance of empowering students through workshops that bridge theory with practical learning. CRC continues to plan more such engagements to support student development and strengthen NMIMS’s commitment to high-quality legal education.
