SVKM’s NMIMS Hyderabad School of Law Student Research on Maritime Governance

Srimahi’s paper, titled “Maritime Security and Regulatory Framework on Illegal, Unreported and Unregulated (IUU) Fishing: The Real Solution,” explores one of the most pressing global maritime challenges. Her work analyses international legal mechanisms, regulatory gaps, and the need for stronger cooperation between coastal nations to prevent IUU fishing.

Her study offers a fresh academic perspective on maritime governance, highlighting how illegal fishing directly affects marine ecosystems, the fishing economy, and global security. By examining international agreements and enforcement challenges, Srimahi contributes to a deeper understanding of an issue central to sustainable ocean management.
