A new chapter begins at SVKM’s NMIMS with the appointment of Prof. (Dr.) Rupakjyoti Borah as the Dean of the NMIMS Jyoti Dalal School of Liberal Arts (JDSoLA). His arrival marks an important milestone for the school as it continues to strengthen its academic vision and global engagement.
An accomplished scholar and academic leader, Prof. (Dr.) Borah brings with him a deep commitment to liberal arts education, interdisciplinary learning, and international collaboration. An alumnus of Jawaharlal Nehru University, he has built a career rooted in research excellence, thoughtful leadership, and academic innovation.
A Global Academic Perspective
Prof. (Dr.) Borah has held visiting academic assignments at some of the world’s most respected institutions. These include the University of Cambridge in the United Kingdom, the National University of Singapore, The Australian National University, and Gakushuin University in Tokyo. His exposure to diverse academic cultures has shaped a global outlook that aligns closely with the evolving vision of NMIMS JDSoLA.
His scholarly work reflects this international orientation. With four widely recognised books to his credit and a fifth currently in progress, his research spans India–Japan relations, public policy, and global academic cooperation. He is also a two-time Australia–India Council Fellow, a distinction that underlines his contribution to cross-border academic dialogue.
