SVKM’s NMIMS Hosts Canadian Consulate Delegation to Strengthen Global Academic and Research Partnerships

SVKM’s NMIMS University had the privilege of hosting a distinguished delegation from the Consulate General of Canada in Mumbai, marking an important step toward deepening India–Canada academic engagement. The delegation comprised Mr. Jeff David, Consul General; Ms. Vanessa Pukal, Vice Consul and Trade Commissioner; and Dr. Dnyaneshwari Talpade, Public Affairs, Culture and Education Advisor, Québec in Mumbai.

Senior Leadership Engagement

The delegation held strategic discussions with senior NMIMS leadership, including Prof. Seema Mahajan, Pro Vice Chancellor, NMIMS University & Director, PDSE and FBM; Dr. Minu Mehta, Dean and Professor, Anil Surendra Modi School of Commerce; Prof. Amit Vaidya, Director, Sarla Anil Modi School of Economics; and Ms. Shweta Patil, Manager – International Linkages.

Focus on Academic, Research and Mobility Partnerships

The meeting focused on strengthening academic and research collaboration between NMIMS and Canadian institutions. Key areas of discussion included student and faculty exchange programs — with emphasis on short-term mobility — joint research initiatives, industry engagement, entrepreneurship and SME support, as well as consulting and corporate training opportunities.

Building Sustainable Global Collaboration

Both sides explored avenues to build structured partnerships that connect academia with industry needs, foster innovation, and create meaningful global exposure for students and faculty. The dialogue also highlighted the shared commitment to knowledge exchange, cross-cultural learning, and future-ready education.

The visit concluded on a positive and forward-looking note, with a mutual commitment to strengthening institutional ties, reviving India–Canada academic cooperation, and developing sustainable, outcome-driven collaborations designed to deliver long-term global impact.
