SVKM’s NMIMS Indore Hosts Panel Discussion & Workshop on “ESG Readiness of Industrial Units

SVKM’s NMIMS Indore, under the MIRAE ASSET Foundation – SVKM’s NMIMS ESG Research Chair, organized a panel discussion cum workshop titled “ESG Readiness of Industrial Units” on 24th January 2026. The event brought together policymakers, industrialists, practitioners, academicians, and researchers to explore the integration of ESG principles in industrial operations.

Focus of the Workshop

The workshop focused on key themes including #SustainableValueChains, #ESGReadiness of #MSME industries, the #ImportanceOfESG, and viewing #ESG as a business strategy rather than a compliance requirement. Discussions highlighted the frameworks necessary for ESG integration to ensure long-term resilience, transparency, and sustainable growth for industries.

Eminent Speakers and Experts

The session was honored by the presence of eminent industry and academic leaders such as Mr. Veer Singh Panwar, DGM Sustainability at EKI India; Mr. Gautam Kothai, President of Pithampur Industries; Mr. Nilesh Trivedi, Assistant Director, MSME, Government of Madhya Pradesh; Mr. B.M. Sharma, Retd. Professor at SGSITS, Indore; and Mr. Sunil Sood, renowned energy consultant from Bhopal.

Research Leadership

The workshop and the underlying research project were led by Dr. Rajeev Shrivastava, Principal Investigator of the MAF ESG Research Project and Associate Dean, School of Commerce; Dr. Vikas Khare, Co-Principal Investigator and Associate Dean of the School of Technology Management and Engineering; and CMA Dr. Niranjan Mahendranath Shastri, Co-Principal Investigator and Programme Chairperson of the School of Business Management. The research team was supported by Dr. Chhavi Giri Goswami, Miss Dishi Patangia, and Mr. Shubradeep Umet as research assistants.

Interactive Panel Discussion

The panel discussion provided a platform for industrialists of Indore to engage directly with experts, raising questions such as which ESG actions industries should prioritize, whether MSMEs require ESG training or funding more, how ESG is perceived – as a compliance requirement or a business opportunity – and who should lead ESG implementation within companies. The panel addressed these queries and provided actionable insights, resulting in #NovelSolutions that could help industries build sustainable and transparent practices for the future.
