Nukkad Natak, a vibrant form of street storytelling, has long been an engaging way to communicate social messages directly to the public. Blending performance with powerful narratives, it captures attention instantly and simplifies complex issues through relatable, real-life situations.
Carrying forward this impactful tradition, students from the School of Law at SVKM’s NMIMS Chandigarh performed a thought-provoking street play on Cyber Crime Awareness at the Rose Festival held at the Rose Garden, Chandigarh, on 20 February 2025.
Spreading Awareness on Digital Safety
The thought-provoking street play aimed to educate the general public about the growing threats of cyber crimes and the importance of digital vigilance. Through impactful storytelling and relatable scenarios, students highlighted common online frauds, preventive measures, and responsible digital behaviour.
The initiative was organised under the aegis of the District Legal Services Authority, Chandigarh, reinforcing the role of legal institutions in promoting public awareness and access to justice.
Guided by Faculty Leadership
The programme was coordinated by Ms. Mita Kumar, Faculty Mentor of the Legal Aid Cell, under the guidance of Prof. (Dr.) Rashmi K. Nagpal, Associate Dean, School of Law. Their mentorship ensured the activity combined academic learning with real-world social impact.
Strengthening Legal Literacy Beyond Classrooms
The street play received enthusiastic appreciation from festival visitors and successfully engaged the public on an important contemporary issue. The initiative reflects NMIMS School of Law’s ongoing commitment to promoting legal literacy, social awareness, and community engagement beyond the classroom.
