Strengthening Global Engagement: Hon’ble Finance Minister of Luxembourg Visits SBM, SVKM’s NMIMS

The School of Business Management, SVKM’s NMIMS Mumbai, had the privilege of hosting His Excellency Mr. Gilles Roth, Minister of Finance of the Grand Duchy of Luxembourg, on 25th February 2026, reaffirming NMIMS’ commitment to global academic and policy engagement.

High-Level Academic and Policy Dialogue

The visit began with an interaction with the University Leadership Team comprising Dr. Ramesh Bhat, Vice Chancellor, NMIMS; Dr. Sharad Y. Mhaiskar, Provost (Administration), NMIMS; Dr. Veena Vohra, Officiating Dean, School of Business Management, NMIMS Mumbai; Dr. Mayank Joshipura, Vice Dean – Research & Ph.D., SBM, Mumbai; and Dr. Ashu Sharma, Professor (Operations & Data Sciences Area) and Program Chair – MBA (Business Analytics), SBM, Mumbai.

The discussion focused on international collaboration opportunities, strengthening academic–policy linkages, and enhancing student exposure to global financial ecosystems.

Insights on Global Financial Ecosystems

H.E. Minister Roth subsequently addressed MBA and MBA (Business Analytics) students at the Mukesh R. Patel Mini Auditorium. The session offered a sharp, practical perspective on how financial ecosystems shape national competitiveness and long-term economic strength.

He spoke about global financial systems, including efficient capital allocation, financial innovation, sustainability-linked finance, tokenization, and economic resilience in an interconnected world.

India–Luxembourg Financial Collaboration

A significant part of the discussion centred on global capital flows and the evolving collaboration between India and Luxembourg. Luxembourg’s position as a leading European financial hub, particularly in fund structuring and cross-border investment platforms, was explored in depth.

Minister Roth also highlighted recent initiatives strengthening Luxembourg’s financial ecosystem, including progressive regulatory developments, sustainability frameworks, fintech growth, and tokenization.

Emerging Opportunities for Future Finance Leaders

The conversation sparked meaningful dialogue on career pathways in investment funds, sustainable finance, fintech integration, and international regulatory frameworks. Students gained insights into both professional opportunities and the broader shifts shaping the global financial landscape.
