SVKM’s NMIMS Kirit P. Mehta School of Law (KPMSOL) organised a Model United Nations (MUN) Workshop on 18th February 2026 at its Mumbai campus. Conducted by the Model United Nations Society (MUNSOC), the session witnessed participation from around 70 students from the BA LL.B. and BBA LL.B. programmes.
Building Foundations in Diplomacy and Global Engagement
The workshop aimed to provide students with conceptual clarity and practical exposure to the functioning of MUN conferences. It focused on enhancing research skills, understanding rules of procedure, public speaking, negotiation techniques, and resolution drafting.
Led by Student Expert with Practical Insights
The session was conducted by Mr. Ali Murtuza, a fifth-year student, who shared hands-on insights and strategies to help participants approach MUNs with confidence and clarity. His peer-led approach made the session relatable and engaging for attendees.
Understanding Structure, Roles, and Procedures
Participants were introduced to the structure of MUN conferences, including the roles of delegates, the Executive Board, and organizing committees. The session also covered key aspects such as motions, points, moderated and unmoderated caucuses, working papers, and resolution drafting.
Focus on Research, Strategy, and Communication
A key highlight of the workshop was its focus on effective research methods, understanding country portfolios, aligning arguments with foreign policy, and building strong diplomatic and negotiation skills. Participants also gained insights into forming alliances and presenting arguments with clarity and confidence.
Interactive Learning Experience for Students
The workshop was highly interactive, encouraging students to ask questions and engage in discussions around MUN procedures and preparation strategies. It served as a strong foundation for both beginners and experienced participants ahead of upcoming MUN conferences.
Encouraging Future Global Leaders
The MUN Workshop concluded on a positive note, reinforcing NMIMS’s commitment to holistic student development. By equipping students with essential skills in diplomacy, critical thinking, and communication, the initiative inspired participants to actively engage in global discourse and develop as responsible global citizens.
