NMIMS Kirit P. Mehta School of Law successfully organised the 2nd Intra Trial Advocacy Competition 2026 on 21st–22nd March at the NMIMS Old Mukesh Patel Building, Mumbai. The two-day competition aimed to provide law students with hands-on exposure to trial court proceedings, specifically within the framework of the NDPS Act and the Indian Criminal Justice System.
Strong Participation and Academic Rigor
Conducted offline and organised by the Moot Court Committee, the competition saw participation from 90+ students from the 2nd to 5th year, with over 120 individuals involved including core members. The event was convened under the guidance of faculty members Ms. Arushi Chauhan, Ms. Akanksha Kumar, and Ms. Sonika Bhardwaj.
In collaboration with MZM Legal LLP, the competition brought together an esteemed panel of 45+ judges, including Tier 1 Associates, Senior Associates, Senior Counsels, and Partners.
Two-Day Format Replicating Trial Court Procedures
Day 1 began with the judges’ briefing, followed by the Preliminary and Quarter-Final Rounds where teams argued cases, examined witnesses, and demonstrated courtroom conduct in a simulated trial setting.
Day 2 featured the Semi-Final and Final Rounds, testing participants on oral advocacy, legal research, and courtroom etiquette. The Final Round was judged by a distinguished panel of legal professionals.
Participants competed in teams comprising Counsel 1, Counsel 2, and a Witness to replicate the dynamics of real trial advocacy.
Focus on Practical Legal Training
The competition provided students with an immersive experience in criminal litigation, strengthening their understanding of trial procedures, legal reasoning, and courtroom strategy. The evaluation process focused on oral arguments, research depth, and professional conduct.
Internship Opportunities for Winners
The event concluded with the announcement of winners, who were also awarded internship opportunities with MZM Legal LLP. This collaboration added meaningful professional value and connected academic learning with real-world legal practice.
