AASRA, the student initiative at SVKM’s NMIMS Indore, created an engaging space for conversations around mental wellbeing through a series of interactive activities on campus. Moving beyond conventional awareness formats, the initiative used simple, creative experiences to encourage students to pause, reflect, express themselves and connect with one another.

The activities were designed to offer students different ways to engage with their thoughts and everyday emotions. Through ‘Take a Thought Home’, students could pick a thought or message to take away, while ‘Threads of Perspective’ encouraged them to share their viewpoints and explore different perspectives.

Other activities included ‘Stress Smash’, where students wrote down everyday stressors and symbolically let go of them by popping balloons, and ‘Paint Your Pause’, which offered a creative space to slow down and express themselves through art. ‘For Every Kind of Day’ provided an anonymous platform for students to express what was on their minds and receive a message of comfort.

Together, these activities highlighted how conversations around mental wellbeing can begin through everyday interactions and accessible forms of self-expression. By creating opportunities for students to share, reflect and engage at their own pace, AASRA aimed to make the campus environment more supportive and connected.

The initiative reflects the importance of creating spaces within educational institutions where students feel encouraged to acknowledge their emotions, understand different perspectives and connect with their peers.
