Mumbai, 29 November 2023<\/strong>. SVKM\u2019s NMIMS Mumbai organised a one-of-a-kind International Roundtable on FinTech 2023, titled, \u201cFinTech Crossroads: Converging Ideas from Around the World\u201d on 29th November 2023. The conference brought together experts from industry, regulation and academia for a stimulating discussion on the remarkable transformation in the financial realm through the innovations emerging out of the FinTech industry.<\/p>\nThe distinguished NMIMS Mumbai leadership was represented by Dr. Ramesh Bhat, Vice Chancellor along with Deans and Directors of various schools. Mr. Harsh Thakrar and Dr. Charu Bhurat, Assistant Professor, Anil Surendra Modi School of Commerce organized and moderated the FinTech Roundtable.<\/p>\n
The event was graced by esteemed leaders from the industry, namely, Mr. Vijay Kuppa, CEO, InCred Money; Mr. Shashank Saxena, Founder, WhyMinds.ai; Mr. Rajiv Malhan, Head, FinTech Innovations & DPI, Aditya Birla Capital; Dr. Nirupama Kulkarni, Senior Research Director, CAFRAL, Mr. Stuart Harrison, Director, FinTech West, UK. Acclaimed international members from academia such as; Dr. Nikhil Sapre, Program Director, MSc FinTech, University of Bristol and Dr. Kamaljeet Sandhu, Senior Lecturer, University of New England enhanced the importance of the event.<\/p>\n
The event saw participation from senior officials from the Reserve Bank of India, senior academics from UK, USA, Australia and Tanzania and senior faculty members from NMIMS University.<\/p>\n
The event saw wide-ranging discussions about the fintech industry\u2019s transformative potential, the challenges facing it, the regulatory framework governing it, the rapid advancements brought by the industry and finally the concerns within the industry regarding data privacy, cybersecurity and financial stability. The panellists agreed to address the concerns and face the challenges surrounding the fintech industry in a collaborative manner, fostering international dialogue and cooperation.<\/p>\n
Furthermore, experts at the roundtable discussed the implementation of Environmental. Social and Governance (ESG) frameworks, sustainable financial solutions, and the role of AI and machine learning in credit scoring, risk assessment, fraud detection, and customer service within financial institutions. They deliberated upon the strategies to make financial services more inclusive for the underserved and the ways in which fintech firms can take the lead in the financial prosperity of the country.<\/p>\n
Meanwhile, leading academics at the discussion reflected on their roles in encouraging the youth to embrace financial transformation and contribute positively towards the growth and development of the country. They weighed upon the strategies required to navigate through the challenges facing the financial sector.<\/p>\n
Overall, the International Roundtable on FinTech was an excellent networking opportunity and a unique knowledge exchange forum among industry leaders and academia of national and international prominence. It provided a distinctive platform for the convergence of global perspectives on finance and the fintech industry.<\/p>\n
