The NMIMS Global Opportunities Expo 2024, held on Friday, 27th September, 2024, at the Babubhai Jagjivandas Hall in Mumbai, was an exclusive event for the students of SVKM and NMIMS. It served as a landmark opportunity for students aspiring to explore international education and career prospects.
The expo brought together over 100+ renowned universities from around the world representing countries like the USA, UK, Canada, France, Australia, Spain, Italy, Switzerland, Ireland, Netherlands, Germany and Singapore. This unique platform enabled students to connect directly with university representatives, learn about diverse academic programs, and gain insights into research, internships, and summer school opportunities. Some of the top universities in attendance included University College London (UCL), Imperial College London, University of Southern California (USC), University of Melbourne, King’s College London, Technical University of Munich (TUM), University of Queensland, and University of Bristol.
Organizations offering internships, such as Global Career Center and CRCC Asia – Global Internships, were also present. Representatives from EducationUSA, Campus France, and Uni-Italia: Study in Italy, which serve as national platforms promoting their respective countries higher education systems, guided students on academic opportunities, application processes, and student mobility.
The event was inaugurated by Mr. John Adams, the esteemed UN Consulate Commercial Officer, and was attended by Chief Financial Officer SVKM Dr. Mukesh Khandelwal and International Linkages Director Ms. Meena Saxena along with Deans and Faculty members from various NMIMS Schools including Dr. Yogesh Kulkarni, Dr. Mukesh Khandelwal, Dr. Koteshwararao Anne, Dr. Minu Mehta, Dr. Durgambini Patel, Dr. Sunny Oswal, Prof. Amita Vaidya, Dr. Sunayana Sarkar, Dr. Achyut Vaze, and Dr. Dhirendra Mishra. Their valuable insights and guidance enriched the experience for all attendees.
950+ students registered for the event, and the turnout was remarkable, with attendees spanning undergraduate and postgraduate levels from diverse disciplines, including Engineering, Sciences, Pharmacy, Architecture, Commerce, Management, Economics, Marketing, Research, Liberal Arts, and Law. Notably, some students travelled from the Shirpur and Indore campuses to participate in the fair.
The expo was made possible with the support of esteemed sponsors: HDFC Credila, Amber, Internshala, and ETS. A series of insightful masterclasses complemented the expo, covering topics such as the study abroad visa process, GRE and TOEFL exam preparation, global accommodation, internship opportunities, and crafting effective SOPs and resumes.
The expo offered a multitude of opportunities for students, including discovering diverse study programs and locations, gaining first-hand information from university representatives, exploring scholarship and funding opportunities, and networking with peers and professionals.
