Students from the School of Mathematics at SVKM’s Narsee Monjee Institute of Management Studies, NMIMS, Deemed-to-be-University, have earned global recognition at the prestigious Google Nano Banana Hackathon 2025. Team Hephaestus, comprising Sahil Tanna, Kumar Nikunj Sinha, and Tayyab Khan, all third-year B.Sc. Data Science students, secured a place among the Top 50 Winning Projects, positioning NMIMS students on the global technology innovation map.
The team developed Hephaestus, an advanced AI-powered platform that transforms simple or hand-drawn 2D blueprints into fully immersive, photorealistic 360° virtual tours. By integrating Google’s Gemini model, they demonstrated pioneering workflows that convert blueprints to photorealistic visuals and generate immersive panoramas. This breakthrough offers significant potential applications in architecture, interior design, real estate, education, and immersive visualization, redefining how people experience blueprints and technical drawings in a digital-first world.
The Nano Banana Hackathon, hosted by Google, serves as a global platform where young innovators are encouraged to solve real-world challenges using cutting-edge technology, Artificial Intelligence, and machine learning. By securing a place among the Top 50 Winning Projects, NMIMS students not only demonstrate their technical expertise and creativity but also showcase their global competitiveness in the rapidly evolving tech ecosystem.
