Some battles are invisible. Some struggles are silent. This World Mental Health Day 2025, NMIMS Mukesh Patel School of Technology Management and Engineering (MPSTME) and Soul Yatri brought these silent stories to light with The Weight of Silence, a short film that mirrors the hidden struggles of depression, anxiety, overthinking, and the loneliness behind pretending to be okay. It captures the moments where the weight of silence can feel unbearable, while highlighting the courage it takes to speak up.
Turning Silent Struggles Into Understanding
Created collaboratively by students and counsellors, the film takes viewers on an emotional journey through the inner battles many face daily. Through immersive visuals and relatable storytelling, it turns invisible challenges into shared understanding. The film targets batch-wise screenings. It will reach students and faculty across STME, ensuring active engagement with the topic.
The initiative emphasizes that mental health is not a taboo but a conversation everyone should have. By fostering empathy, emotional awareness, and connection, it encourages individuals to recognize their own experiences and those of others.
A Movement for Awareness and Compassion
More than just a short film, The Weight of Silence inspires reflection, dialogue, and action. It demonstrates how storytelling can bridge understanding and make emotional wellness relatable and tangible. The project reflects NMIMS MPSTME’s commitment to nurturing socially aware and emotionally intelligent individuals.
Through this initiative, students show that even small acts of empathy and honest conversation can have a profound impact. The film serves as a reminder to all that nobody has to face their struggles alone, and that speaking up is the first step toward healing. By shedding light on mental health, NMIMS MPSTME empowers students to approach challenges with courage, care, and compassion.
