NMIMS Chandigarh Law Students Emerge as 1st Runners-Up at Checkmate Moot Court Competition 2025

The School of Law, NMIMS Chandigarh, has made the university proud, as its students — Yashita Narwal and Ansh Julka (B.A. LL.B. (Hons.) 2nd Year) and Amrita Kant (B.A. LL.B. (Hons.) 3rd Year), delivered an outstanding performance at the 15th Checkmate Moot Court Competition held at the Army Institute of Law, Mohali, from 6th to 8th November 2025.

Outstanding Performance in Moot Court Rounds

Competing against leading law schools and several National Law Universities from across India, the NMIMS Chandigarh team demonstrated impressive advocacy and research skills. The team moved through the Top 16 memorial selections and advanced to the Octa-Finals, Quarter-Finals, and Semi-Finals, finally finishing as 1st Runners-Up and winning a cash prize of ₹33,000.

Strong Mooting Culture at NMIMS Chandigarh

The team also bagged the 2nd Best Memorial Award for their excellent drafting and research, along with an additional ₹9,000.

This achievement reflects the university’s strong mooting culture and the continued guidance of Prof. (Dr.) Rashmi Khorana Nagpal, Associate Dean, and Moot Court Committee Faculty Coordinators — Dr. Sonia Grewal Mahal, Dr. Muzaffar Mir, and Dr. Shefali Singh.
