SVKM’s NMIMS is proud to announce the outstanding entrepreneurial achievement of students from the Anil Surendra Modi School of Commerce (ASMSOC), who turned an academic project into a thriving business initiative with their venture, “TOTE-ally You.”
What began as a regular coursework assignment evolved into a meaningful real-world learning experience that reflects NMIMS’ commitment to fostering innovation, practical understanding, and entrepreneurial capability among its students.
A Hands-On Business Experience Rooted in NMIMS’ Experiential Learning Approach
Under the guidance of the ASMSOC faculty, the student team applied classroom concepts to create a functional business model—from ideation and branding to production and sales.
They managed the entire operational workflow, including:
- Vendor engagement and negotiation
- Pricing and cost management
- Product design and development
- Customer interactions and order management
- Digital marketing and social media promotions
Their product—customised graphic canvas tote bags—was designed to match the tastes, identity, and individuality of young consumers, particularly students.
Strong Market Response and Impressive Early Outcomes
Within just three weeks, the initiative recorded:
- ₹15,000+ in sales
- 50% profit margin
- Over 25,000 Instagram reel views
- 120+ new followers on Instagram
These results highlight the team’s creativity, execution skills, and understanding of consumer behaviour—qualities NMIMS continually strives to build in its commerce students.
Expanding Horizons: Sustainability and Social Impact
Encouraged by the success, the students plan to expand the venture by exploring:
- Sustainable and eco-friendly material options
- New design variations
- A social initiative titled “Bag for a Cause” to support local artisans
This forward-thinking approach reflects NMIMS’ ethos of responsible entrepreneurship and socially conscious business practices.
Institutional Support and Faculty Guidance
SVKM’s NMIMS acknowledges the dedication and collaborative spirit of the student team—Miloy Mody, Revha Sohani, Yuvaansh Chowdhari, and Arushee Kuril.
The university also appreciates the mentorship of Dean Minu Mehta, Professor Dr. Anupamaa S. Chavan, and the ASMSOC faculty, whose guidance played a crucial role in shaping the project into a successful venture.
