SVKM’s NMIMS Navi Mumbai School of Economics Hosts ‘Arthagya’ Fest Blending Academic Learning with Social Impact

Reinforcing its commitment to experiential learning and social responsibility, the School of Economics at SVKM’s NMIMS Navi Mumbai Campus successfully organised Arthagya, a two-day interdisciplinary economics fest that combined academic simulations, competitive activities, and community outreach initiatives.

Experiential Learning Through Academic Simulations

Arthagya featured four academically designed competitions that translated economic theories into engaging real-world simulations. Events such as Straight, Merchants of Mayhem, Flavor Folio, and Policy Surfers focused on behavioural economics, game theory, negotiation, market simulations, and policy analysis.

The fest witnessed enthusiastic participation from over 90 students across multiple NMIMS schools, including Economics, Law, and Hotel Management, fostering interdisciplinary collaboration and applied learning.

Social Responsibility Initiative: Arth Shakti

A key highlight of the fest was Arth Shakti, a social impact initiative aimed at empowering campus support staff, including guards, helpers, and housekeeping personnel. Through dedicated workshops and policy-aid sessions, participants were introduced to basic economic concepts, financial awareness, and practical insights relevant to their daily lives.

More than 50 support staff members benefited from this initiative, reflecting NMIMS’ commitment to inclusive education and community engagement.

Leadership Development and Industry Engagement

The organising committee gained hands-on experience in stakeholder management, strategic planning, and event execution while coordinating with sponsors and external stakeholders, creating opportunities for knowledge exchange and collaborative learning.

Promoting Sustainability and Responsible Practices

The event also emphasised sustainability by promoting recycling and efficient resource utilisation, including repurposing materials from previous campus activities to minimise waste creation.

Creating Lasting Academic and Social Value

Supported by funding of over ₹1 lakh from institutional and external sources, Arthagya successfully merged academic rigour, leadership development, and social outreach. The fest highlighted economics as a practical tool for decision-making, innovation, and societal betterment while strengthening a culture of responsible and inclusive learning at NMIMS Navi Mumbai.
