SVKM’s NMIMS Deemed-to-be University, Shirpur Campus, successfully organized INNOVENT 2026 on April 11, 2026. This flagship event brought together young innovators, industry experts, and academic leaders. Organized by the SOBUS Centre of Excellence for Innovation and Entrepreneurship, in collaboration with the SOBUS Insight Forum and the Institution’s Innovation Council (IIC), the initiative aimed to foster innovation, creativity, and entrepreneurial thinking among students.
The event witnessed an enthusiastic response, with participation from 252 students across 85 teams. Out of these, 32 teams were shortlisted for the final round. The finalists presented innovative and impactful ideas across diverse sectors such as healthcare, agriculture, education, and technology. The competition highlighted not only creativity but also the ability to develop practical solutions to real-world challenges.
The inaugural session featured Commodore Achyutanand (Retd.), Scientist ‘G’ and former Director of NTRO, as the Chief Guest. He delivered an insightful address on “Cybersecurity and National Security in the Digital Age,” emphasizing the importance of innovation in strengthening national security and encouraging students to contribute meaningfully to technological advancement.
The event was also graced by distinguished guests including Mr. Ashish Bhutada, CEO, Atal Community Innovation Centre (ACIC), SVERI; Mr. Rajgopal Bhandari; Mrs. Rita Patel; Mrs. Resha Patel; Mr. Divijay Chaudhary; and Dr. Sunita Patil, Director, NMIMS Shirpur.
A key highlight of the event was the innovation pitching and evaluation process, where ideas were assessed based on innovation, feasibility, scalability, and impact. A total prize pool of ₹60,000 was awarded. Team Yellow Duck (MPSTME NMIMS Shirpur) emerged as the winner, followed by Team Invincible (MPSTME NMIMS Shirpur) as the first runner-up. Team Cipher-Squad (SVKM’s IOT Dhule) and Team CR’s Innovation (MPSTME NMIMS Shirpur) were declared joint second runners-up, while Team Medicore Innovators (SES RCPIT Shirpur) received a special mention.
The event was successfully planned and executed under the leadership of Dr. Swapnil Mahajan and Dr. Sachin Bhandari. Participants highly appreciated the initiative, highlighting the valuable experience, networking opportunities, and motivation to transform ideas into reality.
INNOVENT 2026 further strengthened NMIMS Shirpur’s commitment to innovation and entrepreneurship.
