World Environment Day Celebrated at SVKM’s NMIMS Hyderabad Campus

SVKM’s NMIMS Hyderabad Campus celebrated World Environment Day on June 5, 2026, with great enthusiasm, reinforcing its commitment to environmental sustainability. The event was organised in collaboration with the Telangana Industrial Infrastructure Corporation (TGIIC) and brought together eminent dignitaries, academicians, industry experts, faculty members, staff, and students.

The programme commenced with a welcome address by Dr. Molly Chaturvedi, Assistant Professor, School of Commerce, who highlighted the significance of World Environment Day and emphasised the shared responsibility of preserving the environment for future generations.

The event was graced by Chief Guest Mrs. C.H. Jyothi, Zonal Manager, TGIIC (Shamshabad Zone, Telangana). Distinguished guests included Sri Subbarao, Smt. N. Shilpa, and Sri Naseer, Deputy Zonal Managers at TGIIC, along with Sri R. Sudhir, Chief Environmental Consultant, TGIIC. The NMIMS leadership present included Shri Bhargav Patel and Shri Praveen Doshi, Trustees of SVKM NMIMS; Dr. Abhishek Ranjan, Pro Vice Chancellor, NMIMS; Dr. Ashwini Deshpande, Deputy Director, NMIMS Hyderabad; and Dr. Ebenezar, Principal, SVKM School, Hyderabad.

Addressing the gathering, Dr. Abhishek Ranjan emphasized the importance of building a greener environment and encouraged the adoption of sustainable practices to conserve natural resources. Dr. Ashwini Deshpande expressed gratitude to TGIIC for their support and highlighted the need for continued environmental conservation efforts. Dr. Ebenezar shared the green initiatives undertaken by SVKM School, including the practice of gifting saplings to students on important occasions to promote environmental responsibility at a young age.

The Chief Guest, Mrs. C.H. Jyothi, elaborated on the initiatives undertaken by the Telangana Government and TGIIC to promote a cleaner and more sustainable environment. Sri R. Sudhir provided valuable insights into carbon footprints, environmental sustainability, and emerging challenges and opportunities related to data centres.

The programme concluded with an environmental pledge and a tree plantation drive, symbolizing the collective commitment to a sustainable future. The Vote of Thanks was delivered by Dr. N. Mahesh Kumar, Deputy Registrar, NMIMS Hyderabad, who expressed gratitude to TGIIC, the NMIMS leadership, dignitaries, faculty, staff, and participants for their contributions in making the event a success.
