SVKM’s NMIMS Navi Mumbai Hosts Two-Day Mental Health Awareness Week Promoting Wellbeing, Self-Expression and Community Engagement

Mumbai, October 12, 2026: The School of Liberal Arts at SVKM’s NMIMS, Navi Mumbai, hosted a two-day Mental Health Awareness Week featuring interactive activities, psychology-based games, creative spaces and meaningful conversations to encourage mental wellbeing, emotional awareness and community connection among students.

The event provided students with opportunities to explore mental health in an accessible and engaging environment through discussions, recreational activities, creative expression and peer interaction. Across both days, the programme highlighted the importance of self-care, emotional awareness, social connection and creating supportive spaces for conversations around mental wellbeing.

Day 1 featured a panel discussion titled “The Female Body, Mind and the Communities Around Them”, bringing together Dr. Shubhangi Adate, Cosmetic Gynaecologist; Dr. Priyanka Kapoor, Master Psychotherapist; Dr. Kalpana Gupta, Obstetrician and Gynaecologist; and Ms. Shilpa Parhar, Child Psychiatric Specialist. The discussion explored the relationship between women’s physical and mental health, societal expectations, reproductive health, motherhood, childhood experiences and the role of families and communities in shaping emotional wellbeing. It also emphasised the importance of encouraging open, empathetic conversations around women’s health without stigma or judgement.

The day featured a variety of interactive experiences designed to promote reflection, creativity and social connection. Activities such as Cover Your Vibe, Tune In, What’s in Your Head and Trevi Fountain encouraged self-expression, while psychology-based games explored themes including memory, attention, social perception, conformity and decision-making. Creative activities, sensory experiences, puzzles and community-focused interactions provided students with opportunities to unwind, engage with peers and reflect on their wellbeing.

Day 2 continued the focus on mental health and community awareness, with particular attention to women’s freedom, safety and dignity. A student-led Nukkad Natak explored social expectations and challenges that can restrict women’s choices and sense of agency, encouraging reflection on the importance of building communities where women feel heard, respected and safe.

The day also featured poster presentations by second-year students on various psychological disorders. The presentations enabled students to apply classroom learning, communicate psychological concepts in an accessible manner and encourage peer engagement with mental health topics. Psychology-based games and thought-provoking puzzles further complemented the learning experience, while a closing karaoke session offered students an opportunity to showcase their talents, unwind and connect in a relaxed setting. Through a combination of discussions, creative activities, student-led initiatives and recreational experiences, the two-day Mental Health Awareness Week brought together learning and community engagement. The initiative highlighted the importance of fostering an environment where students can explore emotional wellbeing, express themselves and engage in meaningful conversations about mental health.
