SVKM’s NMIMS Kirit P. Mehta School of Law came alive with nostalgia and pop-culture energy as Spirit Week – Iconic 2000s High School Movies was organised on campus at Old Mukesh Patel Building. Conducted in offline mode, the initiative provided students with a refreshing break from academic pressures through fun, film-inspired interactive activities.
Organised by the Debate Society in collaboration with Pehchaan, the event was designed to create a relaxed and engaging space where students could reconnect with the light-hearted cultural moments of the early 2000s while encouraging social interaction and participation across peer groups. Around 150 students from First to Fifth Year BA LLB and BBA LLB programmes took part in the celebration under the guidance of Faculty Mentor Ms. Sukriti Shrivastava.
A Nostalgic Campus Experience
The event space was transformed to reflect the vibe of classic high school films from the 2000s, creating an immersive and familiar atmosphere that immediately resonated with students. The steady footfall throughout the day reflected strong interest and enthusiastic participation.
Two themed interactive stalls formed the highlight of the event. The first featured a creative “Burn Book” activity, inspired by popular movie tropes of the era. Students wrote fun, light-hearted notes and were rewarded with exclusive movie-themed stickers, making it one of the most engaging attractions of the day.
Trivia, Team Spirit and Friendly Competition
The second stall hosted a themed trivia quiz centred on iconic 2000s high school movies. Participants teamed up with friends to compete in a friendly quiz format, fostering collaboration and excitement. Winners were rewarded with sweets, adding an element of fun motivation and boosting participation further.
Beyond the stalls, students dressed as their favourite movie-inspired characters, clicked photographs, and created memorable moments with their peers, turning the space into a lively hub of creativity and shared enjoyment.
Promoting Well-being Through Engagement
Spirit Week successfully met its objective of offering students a much-needed break from routine while promoting humour, creativity and social bonding. By leveraging nostalgia as an engagement tool, the event fostered a sense of community and contributed positively to campus life at NMIMS Kirit P. Mehta School of Law.
Overall, the initiative stood out as a vibrant and well-executed student engagement activity that blended entertainment with meaningful peer interaction, making it a memorable addition to the academic calendar.
