Four B.Tech (Computer Engineering) students from SVKM’s Narsee Monjee Institute of Management Studies (NMIMS), Indore have secured placement opportunities with the Reserve Bank Innovation Hub (RBIH) after emerging among the Top 12 finalist teams nationwide in the National Fraud Prevention Challenge (NFPC)—a prestigious national-level hackathon focused on AI-driven fraud prevention and digital payment security.
The student team comprising Dhruv Agrawal, Aditya Dubey, Tanishq Vyas, and Hanzala Saify competed against more than 1,800 teams from across India in the competition organized by RBIH in collaboration with IIT Delhi TRYST.
The challenge focused on developing AI/ML-based solutions to detect mule accounts and strengthen fraud prevention systems within India’s rapidly growing digital payments ecosystem.
From Registration to National Finalists
The NMIMS Indore team progressed through multiple competitive elimination stages:
• Top 240 Teams – after submission of an extensive Exploratory Data Analysis (EDA) report
• Top 140 Teams – after model development and evaluation
• Top 12 Finalists Nationwide – selected for the grand finale presentation round
The grand finale was held in Bengaluru, where the students presented their solution before an expert jury panel and industry leaders. Their project was evaluated on innovation, scalability, technical execution, and real-world applicability.
During the finale, the students also interacted with senior experts from the AI and digital payments ecosystem, including Devraj Sanyal, Chief of AI at RBIH, and Chandrashekhar Bhosle, Founding Member at CRED.

Placement Opportunities Through Performance
Although the team narrowly missed a podium finish, their performance during the competition earned them Pre-Placement Interview (PPI) opportunities with RBIH. The students successfully cleared multiple evaluation rounds, including technical, managerial, leadership, and HR discussions.
Following the selection process, all four students secured final placement offers from RBIH.
• Dhruv Agrawal and Aditya Dubey have been offered roles as Data Analyst / Data Scientist
• Tanishq Vyas and Hanzala Saify have been offered roles as Software Development Engineers (SDE)
Commenting on the achievement, Dr. Anshuman Jaswal, Director, NMIMS Indore, said, “This achievement reflects the dedication, technical capability, and problem-solving mindset of our students. Securing placement opportunities through their performance at a prestigious national platform like RBIH is a remarkable accomplishment and a reflection of their strong industry readiness. It also highlights how innovation, teamwork, and industry-oriented learning can create meaningful career opportunities for students.”
Innovation and Industry Exposure
The achievement highlights how innovation-led competitions and industry-focused learning experiences can directly translate into career opportunities for engineering students.
By working on real-world fraud detection models for large-scale digital transaction analysis, the students gained practical exposure to Artificial Intelligence, Machine Learning, cybersecurity, and digital banking systems.
Reflecting on the experience, the students shared that the journey reinforced the importance of persistence, collaboration, and continuous learning in emerging technology domains.
