The School of Technology Management & Engineering (STME), NMIMS Indore, organised an insightful guest lecture on “India’s Glorious Scientific Tradition – भारत में विज्ञान की उज्ज्वल परंपरा: सभ्यता से आधुनिक भारत तक”, offering students an opportunity to explore India’s rich legacy of scientific inquiry and its relevance to contemporary scientific thinking.
The session featured Dr. Sadanand Damodar Sapre, former professor, author and motivational speaker, who shared insights into India’s contributions to mathematics, astronomy, medicine and technology. The session encouraged students to look at India’s intellectual heritage through the lens of curiosity, critical thinking and scientific temper.
The programme commenced with Saraswati Vandana, setting the tone for an engaging exploration of India’s scientific heritage and its contributions to the modern world. Dr. Sapre was felicitated by Dr. Anshuman Jaswal, Director, NMIMS Indore, following the ceremonial inauguration.
During the lecture, Dr. Sapre traced significant developments in India’s scientific tradition and highlighted how knowledge systems that evolved over centuries continue to offer valuable perspectives for the present. He also emphasised the importance of questioning, observation and developing a scientific mindset among young learners.
The interactive session encouraged students to engage through questions and discussion, enabling them to connect India’s scientific heritage with the evolving landscape of modern science and technology. The session provided an opportunity for students to reflect on how intellectual heritage and scientific thinking can together contribute to innovation and progress.
