Mumbai : Extending the spirit of learning beyond the classroom, over 200 + members of the SVKM community came forward to donate blood at KARUNA, the annual blood donation drive organised by Kshamata, the Social Responsibility Forum of SVKM’s NMIMS Shobhaben Pratapbhai Patel School of Pharmacy & Technology Management (SPPSPTM), in collaboration with the Hindu Hriday Samrat Balasaheb Thackeray Blood Centre.
Held at the school foyer, KARUNA saw students take an active role alongside faculty and staff. Digital creator Jayesh Patel also joined the initiative, encouraging participation and lending his support to the cause.
The event was inaugurated in the presence of Dr. Jagannath Sahoo, Dean, SPPSPTM. Speaking on the occasion, Dr. Jagannath Sahoo, Dean, SPPSPTM, NMIMS, said, “At SPPSPTM, we believe that education must extend beyond academic learning and encourage students to understand their role and responsibility towards society. KARUNA brought this thought into action by enabling our community to contribute to an important cause. It was encouraging to see students, faculty and staff come together with a shared sense of purpose and make their contribution through voluntary blood donation.”
All donors received a donor card from the Hindu Hriday Samrat Balasaheb Thackeray Blood Centre, along with goodies from Dr. Rashel as a token of appreciation for their participation and contribution to the initiative.
Through KARUNA, Kshamata provided the SVKM community an opportunity to translate social responsibility into action, reinforcing the importance of collective participation in supporting safe and voluntary blood donation.
