Indore, September 2026: On the occasion of World Suicide Prevention Day, AASRA — The Mental Health & Wellbeing Committee at SVKM’s NMIMS Indore organised an interactive campus initiative titled “Change the Narrative: Start a Conversation”, encouraging students to engage in conversations around mental health, emotional wellbeing and seeking support.
The initiative used interactive experiences, creative expression and simple moments of connection to create an environment where students could pause, reflect and engage with the importance of mental health awareness.
As part of the initiative, students participated in activities including Myth vs Reality, which focused on challenging common misconceptions around mental health and suicide; the Hope Tree, where students shared messages of encouragement; Take Hope With You, which encouraged participants to connect with words reflecting their emotions; and a Stress-Relief Art Corner, providing a creative space for students to pause, create and unwind.
The activities encouraged students to express themselves, exchange messages and reflect on different aspects of emotional wellbeing. The Hope Tree developed into a collective display of encouragement, while the creative activities provided an engaging way for students to participate in the day’s theme.
The initiative also highlighted that conversations around mental health can begin in simple and accessible ways. Through peer interaction and creative engagement, students were encouraged to recognise the importance of supportive conversations, empathy and reaching out when support is needed.
The programme brought together students and members of the NMIMS Indore community, creating opportunities for meaningful interaction around mental health and wellbeing.
“Change the Narrative: Start a Conversation” marked a meaningful initiative by AASRA towards fostering a safe, supportive and stigma-free campus environment where students feel more comfortable engaging with conversations around mental health.
The initiative reflects NMIMS Indore’s continued emphasis on student wellbeing and holistic development, alongside academic and professional growth. It also reinforces the importance of building a campus culture where students can connect, support one another and access appropriate help when needed.
