Maharashtra: Guided by the vision of Shri Amrishbhai Patel, President of SVKM and Chancellor of NMIMS, Shri Bhupeshbhai Patel, Joint-president of SVKM and under the guidance and mentorship of Shri Rajgopal Bhandari, Mentor, NMIMS Shirpur campus, and Smt. Rita Patel, In-charge, NMIMS Shirpur campus, SVKM’s NMIMS hosted its Inter-Campus Sports Championship 2026–27 at the Shirpur campus from 28 to 31 October 2026. The championship reflected NMIMS’s approach to education, where academic learning is complemented by opportunities for students to develop teamwork, leadership, discipline and resilience through sports.
At NMIMS, academic rigour and professional preparedness remain central to the student experience. Co-curricular activities, including sports, complement this foundation by encouraging students to apply their learning, build interpersonal skills and develop the confidence to navigate challenges beyond the classroom.
The championship brought together total 76 teams representing eight NMIMS campuses: Mumbai, Navi Mumbai, Shirpur, Bengaluru, Hyderabad, Indore, Chandigarh and Ahmedabad. It featured seven sporting categories: men’s cricket, football, basketball, volleyball and table tennis, along with women’s basketball and volleyball.
Competitions were held at designated venues in Savalde and Tande, Maharashtra. Cricket matches continued through 31 October, while football, basketball and volleyball competitions concluded on 30 October. The men’s table tennis event took place on 28 and 29 October, including trials for the singles event.
Beyond competition, the championship offered students an opportunity to interact with peers from different campuses, work towards shared goals and learn from one another. These experiences help foster a sense of community while reinforcing qualities such as discipline, resilience and sportsmanship.
“At NMIMS, we believe that education extends beyond academic achievement. While academic rigour and professional preparedness remain central to our approach, sports and other co-curricular experiences play an important role in developing well-rounded individuals. They help students build discipline, resilience, teamwork and leadership, equipping them to navigate challenges and contribute meaningfully to society,” said Dr. Sunita Patil, Director, SVKM’s NMIMS Shirpur campus.

The championship concluded with teams competing for honours across the seven sporting events.
