The event featured a diverse line-up including sports competitions, recreational challenges, academic games, entrepreneurship-focused activities, and cultural showcases. Each event was conceptualised and executed by different student committees, reflecting strong inter-committee collaboration and student ownership.

Students participated in real-time challenges that strengthened key competencies such as communication, decision-making, problem-solving, creativity, and time management. Those involved in planning and execution gained valuable exposure to event management, leadership roles, and professional accountability, enhancing their readiness for future academic and career pathways.

The initiative played a significant role in reinforcing NMIMS Navi Mumbai’s vibrant campus culture and student-centric ethos. The large-scale participation and seamless coordination highlighted the institution’s focus on nurturing confident, agile learners capable of adapting to dynamic environments. SOCialise 4.0 also strengthened the institute’s brand visibility by showcasing its emphasis on innovation, leadership, and experiential education.

Industry Exposure and External Engagement

SOCialise 4.0 facilitated meaningful interaction with external stakeholders and sponsors, particularly through entrepreneurship and business-oriented events. These engagements provided industry exposure to student talent and creativity, contributing to stronger industry–academia connections and opening avenues for future internships, mentorships, and collaborative initiatives.

Sustainability and Social Sensitivity

Aligned with responsible practices, the event adopted eco-conscious measures such as digital registrations, reduced paper usage, and efficient resource management. The inclusion of Aashayein 3.0, an initiative involving underprivileged children on campus, further reinforced values of inclusivity, empathy, and social responsibility among students.

What started as a simple idea soon became something unforgettable. The students watched tails wag and eyes light up, realising how powerful a single act of kindness can be. It wasn’t just about feeding animals; it was about empathy, about feeling connected to something beyond themselves. In those small, fleeting moments, the team found the true meaning of togetherness.

Beyond the Festive Lights

Vaayu has always been more than a cultural festival. It’s a spirit — one that celebrates not only talent and creativity but also compassion and purpose. The Juhu Beach food drive was a beautiful reminder of that. It showed that Vaayu’s energy doesn’t end when the music fades or the stage lights dim. It continues in acts of care, in laughter shared with strangers, and in moments that make the world just a little kinder.

The Heart of Vaayu

Over the years, Vaayu has grown into one of India’s most loved student festivals, bringing together over 35,000 attendees and 600 young organisers. But what truly defines it is the heart behind the hustle — the belief that change begins with compassion. This small act by the Vaayu Core Team captured exactly that: the light of Diwali, not just in lamps, but in humanity.

The distinguished gathering included Ms. Petra Olschowski, Hon’ble Minister of Science, Research and Arts for the State of Baden-Württemberg, Germany, who led a delegation of representatives from 14 universities in Baden-Württemberg. Also in attendance were Dr. Katja Lasch, Director DAAD India, Mr. Stephen Brauer MdL Member of Parliament; Mr. Michael Joukov Member of Parliament, and prominent NMIMS functionaries including Mr. Amrish Patel, Hon. Chancellor, Mr. Nayan Patel, Managing Committee Member, Dr. Ramesh Bhat, Vice Chancellor, Ms. Sneha Parekh from SVKM, Mr. Bharat Sanghvi, Hon. Vice President, Dr. Jayant Gandhi, Hon. Secretary, Pro Vice Chancellors, Deans and Directors, along with over 600 NMIMS students.

The day commenced with a lunch and preliminary meetings at the Mini Auditorium, followed by a formal welcome by Dr. Ramesh Bhat, introductions of the dignitaries. NMIMS University’s presentation and the release of the “Mit Einander” book were followed by a presentation on TBIA by Dr. Jan Riel and a speech by Minister Petra Olschowski. The initial session concluded with a memento exchange and group photo. The main “Ziel: Germany” session in the Mukesh Auditorium auditorium began with a welcome by Dr. Ramesh Bhat, an overview of the event by Mr. Nayan Patel, and a recorded speech by Dr. Frank Mentrup. Dr. Katja Lasch presented information from the DAAD, followed by a video featuring NMIMS students in Germany. Ms. Petra Olschowski Hon. Minister of Research and Education, State of Baden Wurtemburg,  Dr. Rose Marie Beck, President  HKA, Dr. Sabine Rein President  HTWG Konstanz addressed the students on the career opportunities in Germany. A lively Q&A session with students provided valuable insights, and the event concluded with an announcement by Dr. Sharad Mhaiskar, PVC, NMIMS and a vote of thanks by Mr. Murad Futehally.

 The event’s primary objective was to explore and foster career prospects for NMIMS students in Germany. Discussions centered on academic advancement, student internships, particularly in engineering, student exchange programs, and collaborative research opportunities for NMIMS faculty. The Baden-Württemberg delegation’s visit emphasized the growing interest in educational exchange between the two regions, particularly in fields like engineering and computer science. Minister Olschowski highlighted India’s emergence as a key player in higher education and the enthusiasm of German universities to partner with Indian institutions. The increasing number of Indian students choosing to study in Baden-Württemberg, now the second largest group of international students after those from China, underscoring the importance of this partnership. The “Ziel: Germany” event successfully concluded, with NMIMS expressing its commitment to supporting students interested in pursuing academic and internship opportunities in Germany, enabling them to benefit from world-class education and professional experiences.

Trackwise Poster Presentation

There were a total of 40 poster presentations, of which 22 were from external participants. All posters were categorized into the following tracks:

1. Applied Statistics & Data Analytics – Explored regression analysis, time-series forecasting, and extreme value theory.
2. Data Science & AI – Projects focused on LLMs, NLP, ML, and DL applications.
3. Computational Mathematics – Showcased advanced mathematical theories with real-world applications.

Once inside, Ridhina welcomed the audience and introduced the theme of the event, “I Think, Therefore I Am.” The first session began with counselling psychologist Spreeha Bezbaruah, who infused a refreshing, interactive element into the event. Her engaging activity on the power of mental rehearsal not only captivated the audience but also provided practical tools to enhance mindset and well-being. The discourse then shifted to the intricacies of economics with Dr Surajit Mazumdar, who delivered a thought-provoking talk on the art of critical thinking in relation to our planet and our interactions with fellow beings. Adding an entrepreneurial perspective, Jhalak Shah, the visionary founder of Diam Beauty, shared invaluable lessons from her journey. Her story of resilience and innovation inspired the audience, showcasing her ability to navigate challenges and redefine norms within India’s beauty industry.

A thoughtfully planned break, featuring high tea and snacks, offered attendees an opportunity to exchange ideas and spark lively discussions among like-minded individuals. Post-break, Bollywood actor Avinash Tiwary captivated the audience with his heartfelt reflections on the power of choices and the relentless pursuit of passion. His authenticity and insights resonated deeply with attendees. Following him, acclaimed filmmaker Kabir Khan delivered a compelling talk, sharing stories from his documentary background and the narratives that shape society. His storytelling expertise added depth and nuance to the event.

Each speaker contributed a unique thread to the vibrant fabric of TEDxNMIMS 2025, creating an unforgettable experience that left the audience inspired, informed, and energized. More than just an event, TEDxNMIMS 2025 embodied the vision of SVKM’s NMIMS University to foster research and spread knowledge to all. An international delegation from acclaimed universities across the United States of America graced the CIBER FDIB India 2025 programme to share their perspectives and insights on the pharmaceutical and healthcare business environment in India. The delegation was led by Dr. Sumit Kundu, the James K. Batten Eminent Scholar Chair in International Business, Associate Dean for CIBER and International Affairs, Director of CIBER, and Professor in the Department of International Business at Florida International University, and included eminent academics and faculty members from esteemed universities namely Sung K. Ahn from Washington State University; Louis Ngamassi from Prairie View A&M University; Milagros Sanoja from Miami Dade College; Kevin J. Jones from Indiana University; Andrea Foster from Montgomery College; Akash Dania from Delaware State University; Tory Kinson from The University of Tennessee; Jonathon Wood from Brigham Young University; Marki Jones from the University of South Carolina; Monica Kinson, an expert in the field of accounting; Emil Milevoj from California State University; Jillian Avendano, CIBER Program Director and Jacob Searcy from Santa Fe College.

The programme featured insightful and engaging discussions regarding the business environment in India. It started with the welcome remarks and opening address by Dr Ramesh Bhat, Vice Chancellor, NMIMS who talked about the history of NMIMS and touched upon the various programmes that were introduced across the campuses.

The programme included a thought-provoking discussion led by Mr Yugal Sikri, Managing Director, RPG Lifesciences regarding the theme “Indian Pharmaceutical Industry: Challenges and Prospects”. He provided valuable insights into the growing challenges in the Indian healthcare and pharmaceutical sectors as well as the prospects for growth, innovation and technological advancements in these sectors.

The focus of the programme shifted to the theme “Indian Healthcare Industry: Challenges and Prospects.” This session was led by Mr Bimal Desai, Country Head and Director at SheepMedical, who is an expert in forging successful strategic alliances, joint ventures, strategic business expansion and has successfully built start-ups

In his address, Mr Bimal Desai highlighted the rapid advancements in healthcare technologies while discussing the potential for growth. He remarked, “India is now becoming a start-up hub. Just in healthcare, you have more than seven thousand start-ups. When you look at an inherent need for this product, you have a captive consumer base in the country itself, if rightly priced.”

The CIBER PDIF programme also featured a panel discussion on the Financial Services Industry, with panellists being drawn from NMIMS’s illustrious alumni network.The Panel Discussion was moderated by Dr. Veena Vohra- Professor and Vice Dean (Accreditation, Ranking, Industry and Alumni) and participants included Vice President of Equity Research at Edelweiss Financial; Francis Rodrigues, Senior Executive Vice President and Head of Customer Experience at Kotak Mahindra Bank, as well as Jivan Dhakate, Vice President at Axis Bank.

The CIBER FDIB India 2025 programme concluded with an inspiring presentation by Dr Meena Galliara from the Jasani Center for Social Entrepreneurship & Sustainability Management, highlighting SBM and NMIMS’s significant social impact across the nation and their commitment to civic engagement.

This event began with the poster exhibition inauguration at the Mukesh Patel Auditorium lobby, followed by the lighting of the lamp ceremony and Saraswati Vandana. Dr Ramesh Bhat, Vice Chancellor, NMIMS, facilitated the Chief Guest and addressed the audience. He extended his heartfelt appreciation to every member of the NMIMS community and thanked them for their tireless effort, dedication and unwavering commitment. He emphasised the shared vision of every member of the NMIMS family and applauded them for their invaluable contribution to shaping the future of the society and the nation.

The journey of NMIMS began in 1934 with the establishment of Shri Vile Parle Kelavani Mandal (SVKM) which was born out of a visionary dream to nurture education across all dimensions: physical, intellectual, philosophical, and ethical. This visionary endeavour laid the foundation for what has now become a global institution.

NMIMS was started in 1981 with only four faculty members and forty students. Today, NMIMS has grown into a prestigious globally recognised institution with over 800 faculty members, 1000 staff members, and more than 30,000 full-time students across multiple campuses. The objective of the Shodh Yatra was to record the traditional practices of the tribal area and analyze them based on scientific knowledge and methods. The group of Young Professionals under the leadership of Shirpur Campus faculty, Mr. Saurabh Maru, Assistant Prof. SPTM, Shirpur, visited the remotest villages of Madhya Pradesh, interacted with tribal people to understand their issues and facilitated them with various government schemes for Tribal communities in education, medical sector, etc. and recorded many tribal traditions which are unique and have high transforming impact on civilization like Van Bhaji, Dhas, Basak, etc.

Under the Shodh Yatra-2024 initiative, starting from Magarpati to Kotbandhani of Pati Block, Barwani District, Madhya Pradesh, covered the villages like Magarpatti, Anjrada, Osada, Budi, Semli, Bamnali, Limbi, Gudi, Harla, Rosar, Umriyapani, Golgao, Kherwani, Jiwani, Semlet, and Kotbandhani and arranged various activities across tribal villages like,

1. Medical camps, identification of sickle cell patients and treatment
2. Van Bhaji Utsav  to record traditional practices of using forest vegetables,
3. Dhas to repair and construct water bodies with the help of community,
4. Motivational sessions with school students,
5. Literacy and government policies-related awareness sessions.

Over the years, the initiative has transformed healthcare in the tribal area as the locally residing students have become the heads of the Primary Health Centres (PHCs). PHCs are well connected with the local residents and thus are available for treatment and in a sympathetic manner. The scientific documentation of the Van Bhaji is going on, and people are made aware of it; currently in Alirajpur, we have recorded the demand for Van Bhaji at a good rate.

At every village where Shodh Yatra visited, a medical camp was conducted, and screening for sickle cell disease, skin diseases, leprosy, TB, etc. was conducted. A total of 12 medical camps were conducted, covering people from 17 villages during these 7 days. The Shodh Yatra recorded sickle cell disease prevalence in 17 villages of Pati block, Barwani, M.P., and 800 tribals were screened for sickle cell anaemia, in which 117 people were found positive. Mr. Saurabh Maru interacted with 600 students and conducted 8 motivational and career guidance sessions in the schools of these villages. A total of 5,000 people interacted with the Shodh Yatra. Many plants were recorded with high medicinal and nutritious food value in the villages. Plantations of Banyan and Sacred fig plants were done in villages. Two water bodies were constructed through the tribal tradition of “Dhas“.

Shodh-Yatra-2024 was concluded on 31st December 2024 at Kotbandhani by praying the tribute to the river Narmada. 

This year, Madhya Pradesh Rajyapal, Shri. Manubhai C. Patel, the Member of Parliament, Barwani-Khargone constituency; Barwani District Collector, Dr. Rahul Fating, the Superintendent of Police; MLAs around the Pati Block, CMHO and DHO, Barwani, have taken an interest in this young professional-led initiative, and they wholeheartedly supported this unique initiative. 

Our faculty, Mr. Saurabh Maru, Assistant Professor, SPTM, has been putting efforts into organizing Shodh Yatra since the year 2016 for this social cause, uplifting the livelihood of the tribal community.”

The OPEN-ASIA project seeks to advance the digital economy and connectivity in India and Malaysia by promoting Open Science principles. It leverages best practices from the European Union to address local socioeconomic needs and challenges.

Purpose of the Session

The session aimed to provide NMIMS faculty and staff with critical insights into this prestigious project, including its goals, structure, and planned activities.

Key Highlights of the Session

1. Overview of Open Science Principles:

• Dr. Sharad Mhaiskar, Pro Vice Chancellor (PVC):
  Dr. Mhaiskar opened the session with an insightful overview of Open Science principles, emphasizing their importance in enhancing research transparency, collaboration, and accessibility.

2. Detailed Project Insights:

• Ms. Meena Saxena, Director, International Linkages & Project Coordinator:
  Ms. Saxena shared comprehensive details about the project, including:
  • Funding received and budget allocation across various activities.
  • Participating universities and the management structure.
  • Details of the work packages.
  • Overview of the Open Science Conference and Forum at NMIMS.

3. Work Package Presentations:

• Work Package 1: OS Infrastructure Development (Led by Dr. Kapil Juvale, Assistant Professor, SPPSPTM):
  Dr. Juvale introduced his team and presented an overview of their recent study visit to the University of Tampere, Finland. He elaborated on the following initiatives:
  • Drafting and preparing OS-Infrastructure Development Plans.
  • Development and maintenance of the University Open Science Portal.
  • Equipment planning and development of OS infrastructure.

• Work Package 3: Open Science Policy Development (Led by Dr. Mayank Joshipura, Professor (Finance), Vice Dean – Research & PhD, SBM-Mumbai):
  Dr. Joshipura introduced his team and discussed:
  • Key elements of institutional Open Science policy.
  • Insights from UNESCO’s Open Science policy instruments and conferences.
  • India’s Open Science Policy (5th STI policy draft) initiatives.
• Work Package 4: OS Awareness and Capacity Building (Led by Dr. Jayakumar Singh Bondili, Dean, School of Science):
  Dr. Bondili highlighted the following:
  • University-level initiatives, including library resources, publishing, and stakeholder engagement.
  • School-level projects and community engagement strategies to promote Open Science awareness and capacity building.

The session offered a rich and comprehensive understanding of the ERASMUS+ OPEN-ASIA Project and underscored NMIMS University’s commitment to fostering innovation, collaboration, and global best practices in research through Open Science initiatives. The interactive presentations provided valuable insights into how the project’s activities and objectives align with NMIMS’s strategic vision for internationalization and research excellence

The expo brought together over 100+ renowned universities from around the world representing countries like the USA, UK, Canada, France, Australia, Spain, Italy, Switzerland, Ireland, Netherlands, Germany and Singapore.  This unique platform enabled students to connect directly with university representatives, learn about diverse academic programs, and gain insights into research, internships, and summer school opportunities. Some of the top universities in attendance included University College London (UCL), Imperial College London, University of Southern California (USC), University of Melbourne, King’s College London, Technical University of Munich (TUM), University of Queensland, and University of Bristol.

Organizations offering internships, such as Global Career Center and CRCC Asia – Global Internships, were also present. Representatives from EducationUSA, Campus France, and Uni-Italia: Study in Italy, which serve as national platforms promoting their respective countries higher education systems, guided students on academic opportunities, application processes, and student mobility.

The event was inaugurated by Mr. John Adams, the esteemed UN Consulate Commercial Officer, and was attended by Chief Financial Officer SVKM Dr. Mukesh Khandelwal and  International Linkages Director Ms. Meena Saxena along with Deans and Faculty members from various NMIMS Schools including Dr. Yogesh Kulkarni, Dr. Mukesh Khandelwal, Dr. Koteshwararao Anne, Dr. Minu Mehta, Dr. Durgambini Patel, Dr. Sunny Oswal, Prof. Amita Vaidya, Dr. Sunayana Sarkar, Dr. Achyut Vaze, and Dr. Dhirendra Mishra. Their valuable insights and guidance enriched the experience for all attendees.

950+ students registered for the event, and the turnout was remarkable, with attendees spanning undergraduate and postgraduate levels from diverse disciplines, including Engineering, Sciences, Pharmacy, Architecture, Commerce, Management, Economics, Marketing, Research, Liberal Arts, and Law. Notably, some students travelled from the Shirpur and Indore campuses to participate in the fair.
