Bengaluru, February 2024: SVKM’s NMIMS Deemed-To-Be-University Bengaluru campus organised its annual fest AURA ’24. The university left no stone unturned to make the fest a spectacle as preparations commenced from September 2023 onwards when an organising team of 32 members was constituted.

The opening ceremony saw IPS officer Prabhakar Priyadarshini addressing the students and all those in attendance with his valuable insights. Moreover, 12 teams from prestigious colleges across Bengaluru participated in the inter-college event. The participant colleges included Symbiosis, Symbiosis Centre for Management Studies (SCMS), and Christ University to name a few.

Aura ‘24 included 18 exciting events across two days. The themes of the events included Business and finance, Performing Arts, Literary Arts, Innovations and inventions, Informals Gaming and sports. One hundred and fourteen teams participated in these events. All the events were successfully organised by the Hospitality and Management departments at NMIMS Bengaluru.

The event was sponsored by UNIBIC Foods Ltd., Jai Shree Balaji Enterprises, and Shyam Stay. To promote the event on a large scale and to create visibility for the sponsors and participants, the organising team embraced the digital space. Moreover, the team successfully conducted three unique promotional events. At the first event, the official AURA ’24 logo was revealed. For the second event, the team collaborated with Maybelline New York to raise awareness about mental health and wellness among the youth of the country. The third event was a carnival that introduced all the events scheduled for AURA.

AURA ’24 witnessed an energetic audience that displayed excitement and enthusiasm. The organising team worked tirelessly to ensure the successful conduct of the event. The grand fest served as a brilliant opportunity for students and participants to display their talents and exchange knowledge.

Speaking about the success of the event, Dr. Narayani Ramachandran, Director, NMIMS Bengaluru, said, “AURA ’24 was a celebration of talent, innovation, and our community spirit. The success of the inter-college event is evidence of the extraordinary potential that thrives within NMIMS Bengaluru”

Bengaluru, 19th August, 2023: SVKM’s NMIMS Bengaluru hosted its convocation
ceremony, where 200 bright graduates from the School of Commerce (SoC), School of
Economics (SoE), and School of Science (SoS) were conferred degrees. Mr. Nitin Pai,
CMO & Chief Strategy Officer at Tata Elxsi, Bengaluru, graced the occasion as the
Chief Guest. The convocation ceremony held at NMIMS Bengaluru campus was attended
by Dr. Ramesh Bhat, Vice Chancellor, NMIMS, Dr. Narayani Ramachandran, Deputy
Director, NMIMS Bengaluru and Mr. Ashish Apte, Controller of examinations along
with other senior staff and faculty members from NMIMS.
The students being convocated, who had completed various academic programs such as
BBA, B.Sc. (Finance), B.Com. (Hons.), B.Sc. (Economics), and B.Sc. (Applied Statistics &
Analytics), were applauded for their hard work and perseverance. The event was a
significant day in the academic journey of the fresh graduates. While it signified the
successful completion of their college life, it also symbolised their readiness to become
professionals and embark on new and exciting chapters in their lives. The convocation
ceremony saw the presence of dignitaries, faculty members, proud parents, and
well-wishers, who witnessed the graduates being awarded their well-deserved degrees.
During the ceremony, V. Tejasvini, a B. Com (Hons) student, received recognition for
achieving the 1st rank in her program. The event also showcased numerous
accomplishments of both faculty and students, both within the institute and in external
arenas, eliciting enthusiastic applause from the audience.
In his address, Mr. Nitin Pai, said, “I urge the fresh graduates to think creatively and
boldly in their future endeavors. I want to add that true success is not measured by
achievements but also by the positive impact you have on the lives of others and the
society.”
Speaking at the event Dr. Ramesh Bhat, expressed, “It is a joyous occasion and a
celebration of excellence. The students’ presence at this ceremony today is the result of
years of hard work and determination. I take great pride in the graduates’ achievements.
As you step out of these haloed precincts, I am confident that you will excel in your chosen
fields and make a mark in life.”
Dr. Narayani Ramachandran, highlighted how the students’ journey at NMIMS
Bengaluru has equipped them with the knowledge and skills to steer through the
complexities of the world. She further said, “My advice to them would be to consistently
demonstrate a sense of responsibility in all their actions. I am certain that you will rise to
any occasion and make a lasting impression wherever you go next.”
The convocation ceremony exemplified NMIMS Bengaluru’s dedication to fostering a
culture of brilliance, innovation and global collaboration.

Bengaluru, 21st July, 2023: NMIMS Bengaluru School of Law, in association with the prestigious Boston University School of Law, successfully organized an international conference on the theme, “Emerging Global Dimensions of Human Rights in the Contemporary Era.” The conference took place at the NMIMS Bengaluru campus, attracting diverse participants from the field of law. Hon. Shri S.P Singh Baghel, Minister of State, Ministry of Health & Family Welfare, and Member of Lok Sabha graced the event as the Chief Guest while Justice Sant Prakash, Chairman of Punjab Human Rights Commission was the keynote speaker.
The conference aimed to shed light on crucial issues concerning human rights in the contemporary era and foster an environment for insightful discussions and knowledge exchange. Distinguished speakers from various disciplines shared their expertise, contributing to a comprehensive exploration of the subject matter.
The conference featured 14 thought-provoking sessions and presentations of papers on topics such as the changing contours of gender justice, corporate liability under international human rights law, climate change and environmental justice, sustainable development and human rights, equality, non-discrimination and human rights, and health as a human right. These discussions stimulated critical thinking and inspired innovative approaches to addressing human rights challenges.
The event witnessed the presence of esteemed speakers and experts in the field, who shared their valuable insights and experiences. The engaging presentations captivated the audience and provided them with a deeper understanding of the complex issues surrounding human rights.
SVKM’s NMIMS University School of Law, with its strong commitment to academic excellence, and Boston University School of Law, renowned for its rich history in legal education, have jointly demonstrated their dedication to addressing the emerging challenges of human rights in the contemporary era.
Speaking at the conference, Shri. S.P Singh Baghel,Minister of State, Ministry of Health & Family Welfare, and Member of Lok Sabha  said, “Safeguarding and protecting human rights necessitates a collective endeavor involving governments, institutions, and individuals working together. I commend NMIMS Bengaluru School of Law and Boston University School of Law for organizing this enlightening conference, which emphasizes the importance of addressing emerging global dimensions of human rights. Meanwhile, Justice Sant Prakash, while delivering his keynote address, said, “It is a proud privilege for me to deliver this keynote address at this prestigious international conference. Bengaluru, 13th July, 2023 : The Stand Up & You Grow Girl, with Navya Nanda, organized by Clustera and Yuvaa, successfully concluded at NMIMS Bengaluru, leaving a lasting impact on students and sparking important conversations on Street Harassment, Women Empowerment, Self-Development, Finance & Entrepreneurship. Mr. Yash, a leadership member of Yuvaa, conducted the entire town hall featuring open mics, and insightful conversations with Navya Nanda, a young Indian entrepreneur, social media influencer, and co-founder of Aara Health.

The event brought together students, and esteemed guests who gained valuable insights from Navya Nanda’s experiences. Navya Nanda, as Bollywood legend Amitabh Bachchan’s grand-daughter, has charted her own path and become an inspiration to many. Navya is known for her active presence on social media, where she shares aspects of her personal life and promotes her business ventures.

Navya Nanda has always been vocal about women empowerment. She inspired the students to become agents of change and encouraged them to pursue their passions fearlessly. “To be a part of the Stand up & You Grow Girl initiative at NMIMS Bangalore is encouraging, as I witness the student’s determination in addressing the challenges faced by our society and working towards a more inclusive and empowered future,” she said.I feel an alignment of my vision with that of their organisation. I appreciate their amazing team. I think our mission and vision are very aligned. I really wanted to travel, go to different cities and talk to students , so at least for me that’s how it came about.”  She further added.

In partnership with L’Oreal Paris initiative, Yuvaa conducted a survey which showed that 80% of women have experienced sexual harassment, a cause not only global but also for India. There is a conclusion of the 5D methodology  – The first thing one should do in case of harassment,  is- Distract if  witnessing someone being threatened. Delegate and ask if someone can come forward when someone is being threatened, then Document in video while being careful for social media. Delay the person, a sign of clear sympathy, and Direct – ask the harasser to stop or step in while being careful not to get into an argument.

Expressing her gratitude towards the initiative, Dr. Narayani Ramachandran, Deputy Director, NMIMS Bangalore, said, “The Stand Up & You Grow Girl initiative has been an incredible opportunity for our students to expand their horizons and explore important topics that impact our society. We believe that initiatives like these contribute towards creating a more inclusive and empowered generation.”

The event received overwhelming participation and appreciation from the students. Clustera and Yuvaa expressed their gratitude to NMIMS Bangalore. The initiative spans 25 colleges across 7 major cities in India. It aims to understand the issues faced by the youth and create effective solutions by actively listening to and engaging with them.
