Hyderabad, 11th March 2022: SVKM’s Narsee Monjee Institute of Management Studies (NMIMS) has been roped in by the Ministry of Defence’s Armoured Vehicles Nigam Limited (AVNL) for designing and implementing training and skill development programmes for its officers.
As part of the memorandum of understanding (MoU) signed between NMIMS Hyderabad and AVNL’s ‘knowledge centre’ – AVNL Institute of Learning (AVNLIOLMK), Medak – the two parties will collaborate in imparting training and strategic consulting services to AVNL’s technical and managerial manpower. The MoU was signed on March 8th, 2022 by Mr. Ashok Gupta, Head of AVLN Institute of Learning, Medak and Dr. Tapan Kumar Panda, Director NMIMS, Hyderabad. Under the agreement, NMIMS Hyderabad and AVNL IOLMK will promote “academic and research collaboration in mutually accepted subjects, facilitate student and faculty exchange or visits, knowledge sharing and organise joint workshops, seminars, conferences and training programmes.”
Speaking about the MoU with NMIMS, Mr. Ashok Gupta, Head of AVNL Institute of Learning, Medak, said: “Rapid technology and scientific advancements in defence manufacturing globally have necessitated the Indian industry to continuously upgrade their manpower skill sets. At IOL, Medak, it has always been our constant endeavour to facilitate skill upgradation and knowledge development of our officers in tandem with the changing needs of the organisation and emerging global trends. Our collaboration with NMIMS will enable our officers to acquire the latest skills and knowledge in the areas of management and other technical aspects of the industry.”
Dr. Tapan Kumar Panda, Director NMIMS, Hyderabad, added: “I thank AVNL for giving NMIMS this opportunity to contribute to human resource and skill development for the country’s defence sector. As India leapfrogs from importing technology to becoming self-reliant in the areas of defence manufacturing, designing and innovation, there will be an enhanced and continuous need for skilled manpower. We seek to fill in this gap by creating a symbiotic relationship with AVNLIOLML in various spheres of academics, research and training for AVNL officers.”
