Mumbai: Kirit P. Mehta School of Law, NMIMS, hosted Phillauri, an inter-collegiate poetry and performance evening organised by the Poetry Club at the Moot Court Room, Old Mukesh Patel Building. Bringing together students from the School of Law and the School of Business, the event created a vibrant platform for creativity, self-expression and interdisciplinary engagement.
The programme saw participation from 20+ students, including students pursuing BA LLB and BBA LLB at Kirit P. Mehta School of Law and MBA students. The evening featured an engaging mix of original poetry, soulful shayari, spoken-word performances and musical presentations, creating a distinctive intersection between legal perspectives and artistic expression.
The programme commenced with an address by Chief Guest Advika Sanchiharr, who highlighted the significance of poetry and the role of art in understanding and portraying different fields. Her address set an encouraging tone for the performances that followed, with students presenting pieces ranging from light-hearted and humorous to thoughtful and deeply moving.
Law students brought their perspectives to the stage through poetry, spoken-word pieces and narratives infused with wit, emotion and social commentary. Musical performances by students added rhythm and depth to the programme, further contributing to the lively and inclusive atmosphere.
The event highlighted the value of creative expression alongside academic learning. By bringing together students from different disciplines, Phillauri demonstrated how poetry, music and performance can transcend academic boundaries and create opportunities for dialogue, connection and mutual understanding.
Dr. Rakesh Nambiar, Faculty Mentor, supported the student-led initiative, which provided participants with an opportunity to explore and express themselves beyond the conventional classroom environment.
The enthusiastic participation of students, presence of faculty members and guests, and the energy of the audience contributed to making Phillauri a memorable student experience. The programme reinforced the importance of platforms that encourage both intellectual engagement and artistic creativity, while fostering a stronger sense of community across disciplines.
