Chandigarh, 2026: SVKM’s NMIMS Chandigarh marked a defining milestone at its Degree Distribution Ceremony 2026, conferring degrees on 68 graduating students, including its first-ever graduating batches from the School of Technology Management and Engineering (STME) and the School of Law (SOL), alongside graduates from the School of Commerce (SOC).
Notably, the first batch of NMIMS Chandigarh’s B.Tech in Computer Science and Engineering (Data Science) achieved 100% placement. Graduates from this batch were hired by companies including Netsmartz Solutions, RevClerx and Syncloops.
Sh. Gulab Chand Kataria, Governor of Punjab and Administrator of U.T. Chandigarh, attended as Chief Guest. The ceremony was also attended by Shri Jagdish B. Parikh, Trustee and Chancellor’s Nominee, SVKM; Prof. Sougata Ray, Vice Chancellor, NMIMS; Dr. Sharad Y. Mhaiskar, Provost, NMIMS; Dr. Meena Chintamaneni, Pro Vice Chancellor, NMIMS; Dr. Tanmoy Chakraborty, Registrar, NMIMS; and Prof. (Dr.) Jyotsna Singh, Campus Director, NMIMS Chandigarh, along with faculty, staff, and the families of graduating students.
Addressing the students, the Governor said a degree “marks the beginning of a new journey, not its destination,” and urged graduates to become job creators rather than job seekers, while embracing emerging technologies such as Artificial Intelligence responsibly. He commended the growing participation of women in higher education and called on the graduating class to contribute to India’s vision of a Viksit Bharat by 2047.
Prof. Sougata Ray, Vice Chancellor, SVKM’s NMIMS, said, “Today is a proud milestone for our graduating students, their families and the entire NMIMS community. As our graduates step into a rapidly evolving world shaped by technology and artificial intelligence, I urge them to remain committed to excellence, integrity and lifelong learning. Success should be defined not only by professional achievements, but also by purpose, character and the positive impact they create in society. I am confident that the Class of 2026 will carry forward the values of NMIMS and contribute meaningfully to the world.”
Prof. (Dr.) Jyotsna Singh, Campus Director, NMIMS Chandigarh, said, “The Degree Distribution Ceremony 2026 is a moment of immense pride as we celebrate our graduating students and mark a significant milestone for NMIMS Chandigarh, with the first graduating batches of STME and the School of Law receiving their degrees. Our focus remains on nurturing industry-ready, innovative and responsible professionals through strong academics, research and experiential learning.”
The ceremony also recognised several students for individual academic achievement. Vanshika Gupta, from the B.Tech in Computer Science and Engineering (Data Science) programme, was honoured as a Rank Holder and Dean’s List student. From the School of Commerce, Nahar Sakhri cleared all F-Level examinations of the Association of Chartered Certified Accountants (ACCA), UK, on his first attempt and completed a corporate internship with Deloitte; Chinmay Budhiraja and Yashmit Chawla both cleared CFA Level I, with Chawla also scoring in the 99th percentile in CAT; and Manan Garg cleared the ACCA F-Level examinations.
Together, these achievements reflect the strong foundation NMIMS Chandigarh has built for its students, as its first cohorts of engineers and law graduates, alongside graduates from the School of Commerce, step forward into their professional careers.
