Hyderabad: Students of SVKM’s NMIMS School of Pharmacy & Technology Management (SPTM), Hyderabad, have achieved a significant research milestone by securing the BIRAC E-YUVA Research Grant for two student-led research projects. The projects, MatriCare and UV-DegraPack, demonstrate how student innovation can address real-world challenges in healthcare and sustainability.
The achievement reflects the students’ commitment to translating ideas into research-driven solutions with the potential to create meaningful impact. The two projects focus on distinct but socially relevant areas—supporting maternal health and advancing sustainable packaging solutions.
MatriCare: Supporting Postpartum Recovery and Lactation
The first funded project, MatriCare, focuses on the development of a herbal nutritional supplement for postpartum recovery and lactation support in underprivileged Indian mothers.
The project is a B.Pharm student research initiative mentored by Dr. Rahul Maheshwari. Through MatriCare, the student team is exploring a research-based approach to addressing nutritional and post-partum support needs among an underserved population.
UV-DegraPack: Advancing Sustainable Packaging
The second funded project, UV-DegraPack, focuses on developing a smart and sustainable biodegradable packaging polymer.
The B.Pharm student research project is mentored by Dr. Sachin Puri and reflects the students’ efforts to explore innovative approaches to sustainability and packaging challenges.
Together, the two projects showcase the breadth of research being undertaken by students at NMIMS SPTM, Hyderabad, while highlighting the role of mentorship in encouraging students to transform ideas into structured research projects.
The BIRAC E-YUVA Research Grant marks an important milestone for the student teams and reinforces the importance of creating opportunities for young innovators to pursue research addressing real-world challenges.
