Indore 2026: The fifth edition of the MU20 Opportunity Summit, also marking the fifth time the event has been hosted at SVKM’s NMIMS Indore, brought together 1,500 students from more than 80 schools across the country. Held on October 31 and November 1 at the NMIMS Indore campus, the two-day Summit offered school students an opportunity to explore different professional fields through simulations, competitions, debates and hands-on challenges.
The MU20 Opportunity Summit is a career exploration platform that encourages students to engage with real-world issues, test their ideas, develop new skills and explore areas they may wish to pursue in the future.
The Summit featured 12 committees based on the functioning of United Nations bodies such as the United Nations Environment Programme (UNEP) and the United Nations Development Programme (UNDP), among others, as well as Indian parliamentary institutions such as the Lok Sabha. Through these simulations, students represented different countries and stakeholders, debated international and domestic issues, negotiated positions and engaged in policy discussions. The committees included UNEP, UNDP, SPECPOL, UNCSW, ECOSOC, AIPPM, WHO, DISEC, UNODC, SOCHUM, UNHRC and Lok Sabha.
The Summit also featured six challenges across diverse areas: Debating, Theatrics, Entrepreneurship, Impact, Content Creation and Hackathon. These gave participants opportunities to develop and present business ideas, build technology-led solutions, address social issues, create content, strengthen their debating abilities and explore their creative and performing skills.
The Summit commenced with an Opening Ceremony on October 30 at Emerald Heights International (EHI). Mr. Siddharth Singh, Director, Emerald Heights International, and Mr. Tejas Kumar Jain, Founder and CEO of MU20 School of Opportunity, delivered the inaugural addresses.
A significant aspect of this edition was the involvement of NMIMS Indore students in organising the Summit. Over 150 student volunteers from the School of Technology Management & Engineering (STME), School of Commerce (SOC), School of Law (SOL) and School of Pharmacy & Technology Management (SPTM) managed various aspects of the event. They worked alongside approximately 12 Organising Committee Heads, also students of NMIMS Indore, who led key functions including Hospitality, Information Technology, the Delegate Committee and Logistics, among others.
The Summit concluded on November 1 with a closing address by Dr. Anshuman Jaswal, Director, SVKM’s NMIMS Indore. Speaking about the value of such platforms for school students, he said, “The Opportunity Summit gives students the chance to discover their skills and interests through diverse challenges, while building friendships and connecting with peers from across the country. It has been a privilege for NMIMS Indore to host this event over the years. We hope students had the opportunity to get a sense of the academic environment we have built. Across our five schools – SBM, STME, SOC, SOL and SPTM – we continue to strive for excellence in teaching while strengthening our focus on student research. Our endeavour is to be an institution that brings out the potential in every student.”
The closing ceremony recognised outstanding performances across the various committees and challenges. In the Hackathon Challenge, which was organised in partnership with InfoBeans, with eight experts from the organisation guiding students as they worked on their solutions, Team Echo secured the first prize of ₹35,000, followed by Team Oscar from Shishukunj International, which won the second prize of ₹25,000. Team Delta from Emerald Heights International secured third place and received ₹15,000. All three awards carried cash prizes.
Delegations from Emerald Heights International, Daly College, Shishukunj International, Shishya School, Sri Sathya Sai Vidya Vihar, Niranjana School and New Digamber International Public School were recognised for their performance and exemplary participation. Emerald Heights International was awarded the Best School Delegation title for the overall performance of its participants across committees and challenges. Winners of the Cultural Walk, held during the Opening Ceremony, were also felicitated.
